Athiests simply have no belief or acceptance of a supreme being, a god or super spiritual power.
They do not have opposing views. They do not really care what the religious think or believe in. If asked they will express their views and reasons for this position. Unlike christians, they do not go around trying to convert people or mouthing biblical texts as an excuse to judge others who do not agree with their beliefs. They are not missionaries disrupting other cultures lifestyle and believs by insisting that god is the one and only wasy to go. they do not insist that their position is the only one as christian do. Like all people, when pushed, they will express their views and disdain for a system that removes self reliance and decision making from the individual and places it in the hands of some other "Force". But they do not do it by quotes and threats of vengence and condemnation.

I am with CC on this, and You say the same thing -- this is true on both sides of the issue. I sincerely appreciate any input from Atheists who can explain their views calmly, without ridiculing faith. Or any other sincere reply that is made with courtesy -- well, except for the occasional fun stuff, questions intended to illicit silly replies.
You must admit, though, that it often heats up on both sides, as though a straw vote can determine the existence of God. Trolls launch attacks out of nowhere. This place is lively!

The "religious" never get to hear opposing views? What?!
You must be like 16 years old or something? We're not all 85, ya know! We do engage in conversation with younger people, sonny. I probably speak to more younger people in a day than you do!

Some few atheists are here just trying to help, or to understand, and to them, I say "Kudos to you!"
It does seem, though, as if you are vastly outnumbered by those who come to harrass and annoy those they disagree with.
I have heard it said that we Christians ought to "do something" about fundies who do things like picket funerals, or who make a mockery of our faith by preaching one thing, and doing another...I would answer that perhaps you atheists need to "do something" about the folks who are giving YOUR faith a bad rep with their snide insults and outright attacks.
Or maybe we ought to just quit labeling one another, and accept one another at face value? Instead of making an immediate judgment based on your perception of how a "Christian/Muslim/mormon" thinks, perhaps you ought to realize that, just like atheists, ChristianMuslim/mormons are each individuals, and while we share similar beliefs, we are all very different people.
Amazing concept, huh??

Speak for yourself. Not all atheists do that. By trying to convert believers into non-belief you are no better than those of them who try to "save" you.
Letting people hear other views is one thing, trying to convert them or belittle their beliefs is another.
Why can't people just live and let live?

I understand and accept when someone respectfully exposes their way of thinking like many do (believers and not).
It is annoying when people deliberately try to offend (believer or not).
Just like missionaries are trying to help by sharing their faith, I also appreciate the genuine intention to help by Atheists sharing their opinions.

I think the answer to your question is; In most cases, no, they don't realize that Atheists are being honest, "witnessing as you would your beliefs." Unfortunately, so many of those god-believers feel that if you don't share their particular version of their delusion, then you're just evil.
Not many of the followers of "truth and love" care for either truth or love.

Some of these responses really tick me off. The last time I checked, seeing the other side of the medal was labelled a positive thing.
@Lynn - ATHEISTS WANT TO KILL YOU?!?!?! Oh dear ... I most certainly do not!

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Are you saying that you are trying to share other points of view with those who may otherwise only see theirs?
