i just spent alot of money to get my teeth whitened (a christmas gift to myself as a reward for giving up smoking!!) and want to keep my teeth as white as they are now. if i got a whitening toothpaste would that be too much bleach? i dont want to make my teeth super sensitive but i also have trouble giving up coffee which isnt great for teeth..i was just wondering if whitening toothpaste is ok to use after bleaching or if that is overkill and could cause some damage..thanks

I dont think so. Whitening agents in toothpaste are very minimal. Try it and see. Thats your only bet. Maybe you could just use the whitening toothpaste a few times a week, and regular toothpaste the rest of the time.

Asking your dentist seems like a smart thing to do.

I do know that excessive whitening can damage the enamel.

But you can help yourself by not eating or drinking things that stain. Coffee, sodas, dark colored foods. If you do eat them brush promptly to get the coating off.
