I know Christian relief organizations do it everyday, 365 days a year.
Are there any atheist charities out there that benefit humanity that I am not aware of? Not animals, not trees, not artists, I mean directly benefit humans in need.

OK Gate's gives some money to help humanity. I think planned parenthood dont count. Tons go to environmental concerns and way to much to the arts. Of course just by chance some of that 44 billion winds up helping the needy but most of his money is wasted by charitable administraitors.

Excuse me, before you all start congratulating yourselves, just how does the Bill Gates Foundation qualify as a human relief organization??

Bill and Melinda Gates have used their money to spread their deadly liberal sexual agenda throughout the world.

How is aborting innocent babies benefitting humanity?

Did an organized group of American atheists invade two sovereign countries (Iraq and Afghanistan), and are now ready to bomb another to oblivion (Iran)?

I am human and have compassion for those less fortunate than I. I give to the poor, the disabled, the homeless, and the street children on a regular basis. I do this anonymously because I care enough. Unlike you, I don't need to be with a group of delusional people who brag to each other about all their "good works for the Lord." If you're doing it to make brownie points with your god-man, you're doing it for all the wrong reasons. You're still not going to heaven, because it only exists in your delusional mind.

Edit: Hey, RuG: Where did you come up with those ridiculous numbers? "215 million fighting men and women" is almost the whole population of the United States. And what is your unimpeachable source regarding the number of atheists in this group? The Department of Defense? What clueless rock do you crawl into every night?

So...you DO realize that there are more than ten times as many Christians as atheists, right? This renders your numbers meaningless, and so also the implication that believers in invisible sky deities are necessarily more generous (if providing oneself with an opportunity to preach is really generosity)

Maybe atheists are working in movements which better our world in different ways, like protecting innocent creatures, our planet, and our culture, Typical theist. You regale your own self-serving good deeds while dismissing the efforts of millions of people as unimportant. THAT'S compassionate...

Being A Atheist Myself I Can Tell You That It Doesn't Take A Organization To Do Charity Work. That Goes For Any Religion. I Do My Fair Share To Help My Community Because I Want To Not Because I Feel Like I Have To Or Belong To A Organization

Atheists do share in providing and giving. I know I contribute time, items & money to the United way as well as other services for the community.

So, now you know alot of Atheists do for the human cause too, and we don't expect anything but improvement back. So, this is just a common little rant.

Do you think all of the money donated to the church finds it's way to the poor? If it did there would be no poor most of that money is taken for personel use by the church and their people in the know.

FYI: There is more to life than food a lot of people would not be so poor if they where healthy, had a place to live or practiced sound living( such as not have children that they can't afford to raise properly or with love, not fathering unwanted children) You also have to realize that the world is bigger than just the humans in it, if we let animals suffer we would eventually be driven to non existence(ever heard of the food chain). As for arts that is important for the mind feeding a child is fine and dandy but people also require more than just food to live(did you know you can feed an infant properly but if you don't have good mental stimulation and good emotional stimulation that child is likely too die.)

Who cares if there isn't an atheist organization to help others? The normal atheist donates and volunteers just like the normal Christian, we don't need to make a charity out of it, we just do our part.

many of those meals have been bought and provided by the many atheists like me who have worked for the liberal christian charity oxfam now and in the past. why i like them is they don't allow religion and dogma to interfere or overwhelm the need to help people, unlike the overt christian charities who require you to convert before you eat or receive medicine. the types who corrupt aids campaigns in african countries by buying politicians condemning tens of thousands of people to a slow death.
there are many secular charities in europe who help those in need at home and abroad, indeed they probably outnumber the religious ones here, but the fact that i and many other people who don't believe in god are quite willing to give and help any real, non dogmatic charity should tell you that many sincere atheists give for givings sake and don't have a covert agenda. you probably live in the US, where most of the population is strongly christian, therefore, the charities will be christian. in europe we're not religious on the whole and our charities are secular. you strike me as the sort of person who looks out of your window and sees the sun shining and thinks that it must be sunny everywhere. you don't realize or care that it's raining a hundred miles away because it doesn't exist for you.

Many atheists contribute generously to charities manned by religious or civic groups. They are not organizing atheist charity organization because unlike the other charities, they do not crave for public recognition of their charitable gestures.

Are you trying to imply artists aren't human?

I know people who have worked for these organizations. A sense of charity goes across the board, not just Christians. Some of those who work for those charities happen to be atheists or agnostics. It is true a lot of them are "Christian" organizations as they were founded by different groups who were Christian at the origin.
But I also donate regularly to charity. And I am not a Christian.

Oh, and what about the UNICEF?

I think atheists are more likely to realize that humans can HELP THEMSELVES, and that is why you see more that help the poor starving defenseless trees and animals. I've never started an organization personally, but I've volunteered for a few and given money to even more that support animals because I am a selfish person and I tend to not help people.

Specifically atheist? No - we don't like excluding others.

Also we're not an organised group of people. We're simply people who lack a belief in gods. Just like there are no theist charities out there either.

There are plenty of secular (not religiously affiliated) charities out there - I donate every month to 2 of them every month.
But what exactly do you do to help needy people?

The Red Cross as far as I am aware is not affliated with christianity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_cross)
Unicef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicef)
Doctors without Borders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctors_without_borders)
National Socitiy for the prevention of cruely to children (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Society_for_the_Prevention_of_Cruelty_to_Children)

I would go as far to say that there are more secular charities that ones connected to specific religious beliefs
