Yes, many throughout the centuries, I'm sure.

But there are also many atheists that have converted and become popes, archbishops and great saints.

Who in their right mind would give up that gravy train? Or,at least,admit to it....They don't burn heretics any longer...just put them out to pasture..I think you might find this a reality..just not right now. (Ex-Irish Catholic.)
