This whole situation has been on the boil for about two months.
It is/was a powder keg waiting to blow.
India is just waiting to move.
I hope they keep the noise down and it does not escalate to other countries.

Talk of Civil War in Pakistan is nonsense - this is not what is happening. The rioting on the streets of the towns and cities of Pakistan, is entirely un-cordinated and is not seen as being led by any one faction.
Civil war no. Rioting yes.
In a few days when everyone has had a go at setting fire to something and smashed a few windows, everyone will return to work and just get on with it.
In time, there will be elections in Pakistan. At this stage, we're not sure if they will go ahead on 8th January 08 as planned, because some leading politicans in PK are saying that elections held then will not be fair.
Point taken.
PK has lost a major Star, the world's most famous politician, Benazir Bhutto.
I do not believe there is a replacement for Ms Bhutto.
I pray for Pakistan and the people of Pakistan.
God with you always.

After this assassination, it is entirely possible. But, I think that may have been the intention of the killers. I believe it is possible that Musharraf had nothing to do with it. Outside elements may have seen this as a perfect way to destabilize the government and bring anarchy to the nation. Al-Qaida has not liked the way Pakistan has aided the US. This is a great way to distract the people and perhaps point the finger at an Allie of the US.
I don't believe the UN has the authority, military power, or will to secure Pakistan's nuclear weapons.

Yes civil war is possible and the Indian gov will be twitching about their border with Pakistan (Not that it is a clear one) as there will be an increase in refugees with possible extremists crossing. On the border with Afghanistan the military patrols would cease and allow terrorists to move quite freely. The UN has the World's interest and therefore must do something even if is to send in a security force to guard these sites

Where has Rommel been for the last two decades Pakistan nearly had a nuclear war with India in the early nineties. An Islamic country has had nuclear weapons on its land for almost fifty years. Don't forget the place the USSR had most of its nuclear weapons is an area that is almost totally Muslim.

Let's hope it's just the usual over- excitability demonstrated countless times in recent history, in this part of the world since the creation of Pakistan, it's nothing new and will blow over, at least until the next flare up happens, in other words , this is par for the course in the region ...... plenty of us must remember when Bhuttos father was also killed ........same old , same old story, sad but true .

Basically no matter how this plays out we're screwed. The entire middle east is imploding. These people have western technology and a middle eastern mind set. In the middle east they don't even have a word for compromise. It's a world where family, clan and tribe is the main thing and there is no second thing. An insult to yoour family, clan or tribe means that you have wipe whoever hurled the insult...honor demands it. Surrender isn't an option. Even if the US had the power to totally occupy the entire middle east nothing would change....people who actually know this are called surrender monkeys or america haters or 'liberals'. Maybe we should capture the nukes. But the day after that we need to get entirely out of that part of the world. let them dance in the streets if they want to, but after that they're going to have to deal with their reality and maybe that's the only answer.

Nothing to do with the U.N. or the USA.
The Boy Mushariff will take care of it.
Politicians are "offed" in that part of the world all the time.
As for Rommel: Typical Fascist Rant!!!

Pakistan is a REAL problem in that they are a nuclear power with ICBMs. And thanks to Bushie attacking Iraq we still do not have Bin Laden and he is believed to be in NW Pakistan. So we may see mushroom clouds right here in the US. People actually believe Bush when he claims if we fight them in Iraq we will not have to fight them here. DUHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
More STUPIDITY!!! Yeah fighting in Iraq will DEFINITELY prevent them from coming here. Would someone please give Bush a map and a brain.
