First of all, it is called the Word of God because as John clearly states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God". Christ ties it all together. That it was written by men- what of it? Is it any different than when a politician gets up in Congress and says 'The bill "we" wrote...", although he/she had nothing to do with the actual writing of it. Of course they didn't; but the contents of the bill's wording are very much exactly what the politician wanted to be included in the actual bill.As for there being hundreds of years between the various books in the Bible, you are as wrong as you can possibly be. James and John were martyred in 62 and 65 AD. This was less than 19 years after Christ was crucified. How then can you claim with any support whatsoever that the books they wrote were written hundreds of years later? The book of Matthew was written less than 10 years after the crucifixion of Christ (actually, the entire book was written less than a year after Christ's crucifixion, but because of intense persecution against the original community of Christians, the book was well hidden to protect it from extinction). This fact sort of takes the wind right out of the sails of those who claim that Christ's prophecy of the fall of jerusalem in 70AD was written "after" the fact; no, -it wasn't.
You believe what you wish. The Bible is very much the intensely personal and inspired Word of God.

God is the author of the Bible. He has Divinely Inspired the various human authors to write what they wrote. A careful examination of OT text demonstrates that it is a prophecy of the NT. As such, the NT confirms the OT.
It might be easier to understand if you were to think of the humans more as scribes than authors. They are penning the Word of God, not necessarily their own words - even if they don't realize it.
The original Scriptures were penned in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic. The fact that God's Word can be transcribed into even one human language is amazing enough. The fact original manuscripts were written in three languages suggests the Scriptures can indeed by translated into any human language.
Yes, we have to watch out for "garbage" Bibles with poor translations, but the fact garbage bibles exist does not mean there aren't legitimate translations available.
Believing that the Bible is the Written Word of God is an article of Faith. You're either going to believe it or not. If you don't right now, hopefully someday you will.

Jesus is the Incanate Word of God(Logos Tou Theou)
The Eternal Word of God is God as Much as the Eternal Father and the Eternal Holy Spirit
since God is Eternal Love and there must be more than one 'person'(hypostasis) united perfectly in God Who is absolutely One of one substance, essence and being(ousia)
The inspired Bible is the Written Word of God
that must be united to the Oral Word of God(Mosaic and Apostolic Tradition or Paradosis"The Handing Down")
under the direction of the Eternal Word of God Made Flesh,Jesus Christ,True God and True Man,
in the Church He founded and ultimately infallibly still directs to interpret and apply Holy Traditon and its Scripture("the Chrystallization of Tradition")
I believe that Bible is the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Bible(full New Testament, recognized and canonized by the catholic Church, and full Old Testament/LXX,including the Deuterocanonicals/Apocrypha, recognized and canonized by the Catholic Church)
in the context of the full Apostolic Tradition ,from which the New Testament is derived,
in the context of the authoritative O,H,Catholic and Apostolic Church
which I believe subsists most fully in the Catholic Church of the Papal Communion(R C and full sister churches).
Only in this full context
(including reason/Natural Law and using the tools of all the sciences in discernment)
can the Bible functionally be fully dependable or functionally infallible and innerrantly trustworthy
Otherwise one can make the Bible say anything and condone or forbid anything.
There is no such thing (I am speaking "functionally")
as The Bible Alone
since everyone makes recourse to
or conflates
or invents some sort of Tradition or traditions( history and experience prove this) and sets up some sort of 'magisterium' or authoritative teaching office or person(s) to interpret and apply( and even canonize) Scripture

It is called the word of God because God inspired the writing of the text. 2 Timothy 3:16 literally calls it "God breathed" or θεοπνευστος. So, all true scripture is written by man, but infallibly and inerrantly the God breathed word for us. This is why the Bible is so unique.

Yes, the writters were humans, but the Author was God, so that is the reason it is called the word of God. There were not hundreds of years between, the writers were all contemporaries of Jesus, the last being John who was probably Jesus's closest friiend. Translators translate from the most ancient manuscripts they can find, and there are no originals remaining today. You have jsut been minsinformed on these issues.

The events that took place in the Bible were the works of God and Jesus. People just wrote the book. The Bible is also the source of what God said that why it is called the Word of God.

It is called the Word of God because human authors were inspired by God to write it, Who was the actual author.

GOD is Amazing. HE can do ALL things.
I do not have much of an education (I thank GOD for spell check)
I have a very hard time explaining my thoughts, feelings and beliefs verbally or written. If I tried on my own accord, I would confuse even myself (as in: "What did I just say?")
When I speak the word of GOD, or try to explain HIS will to anyone, I pray and ask GOD " LORD help me to speak or write it as YOU would have them to receive YOUR Word.
Then if HE has a message, it comes out easily and understandable.
Inspired by GOD.
