No, if they cannot accept you for who you are then simply they need to move on. Honestly i am so tired of guys saying things to women to bring them down, and tired of women who don't stand up and say hey, when you met me i didnt do that so what makes you think i do it now??? And if he is spanish tell him to teach you if he wants you to learn it. otherwise that means he dated someone that was spanish and he misses them.

does the guy you're talking about speak spanish as his native language? if so, have him teach it to you little by little. i went out with a girl from spain and it was something that brought us together instead of separating us. OR you could go the other way and do italian. italian's only a half step over from spanish.
if it's just a novelty thing screw'im.
btw: if he's saying "i wish you spoke spanish". ask him why? can he not express himself. he's gotta be willing to bridge whatever gap there is in communication if he wants to express himself to you.

I'm assuming he speaks Spanish. If so, ask him to teach you! Or you can take Spanish lessons & surprise him with your knowledge of the language. He may be just commenting that it would be nice if you knew Spanish so he could communicate with you.
If he's just looking for something to pick at, then maybe he's not worth your time. If it's easier for him to speak in Spanish, he's just being selfish, immature and thinking only of himself. We don't always get the perfect person in a relationship and he needs to understand that. We're all different and that's what makes us special. He should be looking at what makes you unique and seeking to build a foundation on that, not on what he wishes was there.
Instead of feeling hurt by his comments, ask him why he wishes you spoke Spanish. Be confident in who you are and your abilities. Seek to better yourself and learn how to recognize immaturity in men. It will save you in the long run!

That has happened to me a couple of times. I have dated ladies that speak english like me but know another language . They always say I wish you could speak spanish or what ever language. They claim the jokes are funnier and they can't translate things they have talked about with there friends. I believe that if a joke is funny in english it is funny in any language I hear people translate all the time. I think they were finding differences in us so we were not as compatible as we thought.

It often means that the person is trying to pick a fault in you to make you seem less attractive to them or for an escape clause. It could also mean that the person is also trying to pick faults in all you do and could slide towards abuse in the future.

Tell them that you'll try to learn Spanish if they try to learn Italian. It's only fair.

They should accept you the way you are. This could point to larger problems later on.
