Yes the USN Blimps used in WW II were armed. They were two types of blimps used (primarily in North Atlantic and Med). The earlier K Class had a 50 cal and 4 depth charges while the later M class had 8 depth charges.

Yes.
Some had a small biplane attached to the bottom that could be dropped and it could act as an attack craft.
Some were used as early bombers, to drop bombs on enemy subs in US waters.
But considering their large size, slow speed and easy of hitting them, they were not a real viable vehicle and they did not last much beyond the 1930s....

Sorta. The lines that teathered them were stong enough to sever wings of aircraft. Sometimes, they would have people up there that could drop bombs or grenades. Even still, some were equipted to explode when struck, but these were few cause of allied planes and the lack of rader to see these obsticals. But for the most part, no.

Yes they were. They were used for anti submarine work, escort duties, search and rescue and reconnaissance.
They would carry depth charges, small arms, machine guns, and bombs.
Although used in only limited roles, they were quite cost effective and successful.
