This is the only answer you will need:

First, FordGirl up above me is pretty much correct about the DRL for your vehicle. The 2007 Ford Fusion is already factory pre-equipped with the DRL Feature. You definitely need to take it to a Ford Dealership that cares. The DRL Feature basically needs to be activated in your car by using the Ford IDS computer (Computer they use for diagnosing and Programming Vehicles). If the Ford Dealership you took it to is telling you they can't do it, they are WRONG. They will charge you for this procedure which "should" cost anywhere from $45-$90 to do. Our Ford Trim Technician has already programmed several of these and he says he does them for free when the customers are very nice. So, once again, find a Ford Dealership that knows what is going on. Hope this helps you out! Good call Ford Girl. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at the Dealership. My information will be below.

The following is the Description and Operation of the DRL system for a 2007 Ford Fusion:

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)

Fusion, Milan

If the SJB is configured for DRL, this feature illuminates the low beam headlamps at a reduced intensity.

The SJB provides voltage to the DRL when the following conditions exist:

The ignition switch is in the RUN position
The low and high beam headlamps have not been activated by any other feature
If equipped with a manual transaxle, the parking brake is not applied
If equipped with an automatic transaxle, the transaxle is in any position except PARK (P)
The DRL feature does not affect the operation of any other exterior lighting feature.

I'm assuming that your vehicle is obviously a U.S. spec vehicle where DRLs are not required to operate. If you intend on registering the vehicle anywhere in Canada (where DRLs are manditory), they will need to be operative. To do so on a Fusion would require "reconfiguration" or "reprogramming" of the SJB (Smart Junction Box) using IDS at any Ford dealer service department. If the dealer you brought it to says no, I suggest you bring to another dealer where there are competent and knowledgible techs that know how to use IDS to its fullest capabilities. You would be better off bringing it to a dealer in Canada if it's not too inconvenient. It is more likely you will find a tech that can activate it for you. The worst case scenario would be to replace the SJB. But I doubt that's necessary. Hope this helps.

in accordance to customer comments, the Fusion is greater stable long-term than the Accord (unsure with reference to the Camry). needless to say, as with every motor vehicle, it relies upon on the difficulty and how the past proprietor dealt with it. All issues being equivalent the Fusion is a sturdy used motor vehicle and much greater advantageous than some think of (Ford's fault for stinking issues up for many of years). circulate to the save and purchase the buyer comments 2010 motor vehicle instruction manual off the mag rack, and consider up on the Edmunds website besides. ideal suggestions on the thank you to get the information you desire.

first check and see if if the drl fuse is installed in fuse panel
if not install one [on car's w/drl i routinely pull the fuse when working on the electrical system to keep from killing the battery] on late fords this may be controlled by the generic electronic module [GEM] this can be re-programmed by your local ford dealer to suit you [turn on/off drl's get rid of low speed locking of all doors etc.you can be sure they will charge for every moment of hourly rate to do this or their min. charge at least [it wont be warranty and it wont be goodwill free either]

Robbie and Ford girl are correct. Some dealers won't do it as they don't know it can be done or some worry about warnings that Ford issues about modifying vehicles (such as using non factory rims etc for TPMS (tire pressure monitoring) equipped cars)

Are you wanting to turn it on or off? This is a safety feature designed by the manufacture so NO dealer will ever assist a customer with turning it off for good.

No, DRL requires a special module to be installed under the hood. New cars do not come with this module, unless where the car is being sold requires it by law.

I think the dealer would know, plus I've never heard of a ford with daytime running lamps.

Our Nissan doesn't have them either, so my wife simply uses the headlights all the time, problem solved.
