is considered to be Eid-al-Ghadeer by the Shia (Shi'is) muslims (which is celebrated mostly in all countries today).

It's the day when the Prophet of Islam declared in front of many muslims that Imam Ali will be his heir.

After the Prophet of Islam's death, a few remembered the prophet's words but the majority preferred Bakr who later seized the land of the Prophet's beloved Daughter, Fatima...

On 18th Zilhajjah of the year 10 A.H. (10 March 632 CE) ,After completing the last pilgrimage the Holy Prophet(S.A.W.) along with the Muslims set out of Makkah. On their way back the Muslims reached a place called Ghadir-e-khumm. The following verse was revealed to the Holy Prophet(S.A.W.): " O Apostle! Deliver what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you don't do it, you have not delivered His message (at all); and Allah will protect you from the people ..." (Quran 5:67)

Delivery of the sermon:

On receiving the above verse, the Holy Prophet stopped at that very place called Ghadir-e-khumm.

The following is a part of the lengthy speech of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) which has also been narrated by all the muslim authorities repeatedly:

"It seems the time has approached when I shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere to them both... http://www.duas.org/ghadir.htm

At the same time the Prophet (saaws) told us which party would be saved, when he said "I am leaving amongst you two things, the Qur'an and my Ahlulbayt, if you follow them you will never go astray".

In the Name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful

Brother you seem to have got all your facts and figures mixed
up.Please read the right Islamic material and not biased and
damaging ones. The only two EIDs that the prophet Mohammad [peace be on him ] celeberated during his life time was EID- UL _ FITR and EID - UL- ADHA,
There is no such report of a EID named AL Ghadeer as you are sujjesting and neither is it known or practised around the
world except may be in Shai dominated contries.

The Prophet of Islam never Declared Ali ibn Talib as His heir
because if he had done so all the Sahaba would have followed him without question.Rather the prophet said that his
heir would be someone close to him and after the death of our beloved prophet [saws] the companoions deciced for
many reasons that Abu Bakr was the closest to the prophet[saws] during his lifetime.
Please note that Allah the almighty has praised the companions of the prophet in the Quran and it is a sin to say
anything againt them.
Thre prophet [saws] has also warned us that anyone who says
something that he has not said let him book his seat in the hell fire.Search for thr truth my brother before you stand in front
of your lord on the day of judgement.

The mainstreem muslims (sunny) do not believe in such fabricated stories. Shia is a small cult which represent only 5% - 8 % of the Muslims.

This cult insists on one family rule hence need such false stories which bear no authenticity hence is rejected by Muslims.

No prophet of God had such a sincere companions as Muhammad (p.b.u.h). His companions were obedient to God as well as the prophet of God.

The majority of Muslims selected Abubakar as 1st caliph in a tribal meeting with vote of confidance

Shia do not believe in majority vote because their Immam Ali ( 4th caliph) could not get majority vote in Medina and Mecca?? If there would have been any declaration for Ali or his sons no muslim could deny his superiority.

I think it a political issue rather than religious!

Addition:
The verses you quoted herein speak about the Delivery of God message. This was an indication of departure but where is the family in the verses?

Majority of Muslims pay due respect to the family of prophet including his wives - the real Ahal-ul-Bait. Shia do not respect the Ahal-ul-Bait; They reject the 3 doughters of prophet. They reject the authority of Ayesh (R.A) who tought various Hadiths to Early scholars of Hadith!
