I am itching constantly and I have bug bites located only on my arms? It is so confusing because they only seem to bite my arms. I have been chasing these invisible pest for 3 months with no results. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in southern california. I call them invisible because I have yet to find anything. I have wrapped my bed and box-spring in 200 dollar plastic like covers. They are completely sealed with tape. I have an average of 10 bites per arm per week. When old bites seem to heal, new bites come. Any ideas? I know bedbugs can be most likely cause, but I can't seem to find any sign of these. I have hardwood floors. I have thoroughly searched for 3 months without 1 sign of any bug.

Just some added notes. I have hardwood floors throughout my entire home. No carpet anywhere. I have lived here for years, and only recently have I had bites. There are no pets. I have cleaned the entire room many times. I am meticulous in the detailed cleaning and searching. My biggest question is why am I ailing to find any physical evidence on any bugs?

you probably need to have a pro out to at least set traps to catch what insects that may be about... bed bugs come out at night to feed, there will be tattle tell signs of blood on the bed...with fleas, you don't have to have a pet, could be stray animals in the attic or under the structure... also this time of year the air is very dry causing static charged particles to become an irritant. Very tiny fibers from fabrics and from paper such as computer paper actually embed in the skin and with scratching well develop whelps and even open sores as if it was a bug bite. Every pest control company gets dozens of calls like these this time of year.

Bedbugs can be the problem, fleas could be the problem, you may even have some sort of mite like a chigger or even body lice. Not knowing of course is the worst part of the problem. I strongly suggest setting out some sticky glue board traps, especially in areas where you think you may have been bitten. This way, if you have a pest stuck on a trap you will be able to identify what it is. Because these "bites" may also be a medical issue, if you are unable to find a pest causing this, you may want to think about seeing your doctor who may refer you to a dermatologist.

Even though you have a hardwood floor, start vacuuming right away. Eggs from insects can be embedded between the boards. If you do have bedbugs, the mattress covers won't help if the bedbugs are hiding someplace else. You may need the help of a professional exterminator to diagnose the culprit.

Try taking a supplement called "Olive Leaf Extract". It will make your skin taste horrible to whatever is biting you. It works wonders. Let me know what happens. God bless you :-)

Hello,
Sounds like fleas, yuk!

If you would put after shave colon on your bites (you are a guy right), you will smell good and wont itch. This will also make the bugs not want to bite your good smelling arms!

Get a carpet cleaner in there, treat your carpet and the padding. I bet someone before you had a cat or dog in there who were flea ridden. Or get some flea killer and treat your carpet yourself, bug balm or something.
Good luck....
