I went to my friend's house today and she fed me some ammmazing food left over from Hannukah. I'm not Jewish and honestly never ate any Jewish food before. Basically one of the things she fed me was, what she described to me as when I asked, "kind of like pastry filled with meat". It was pretty crumbly, layers of pastry, filled with beef. It was sooo good. I think it may have started with a k, but I'm not sure. Anyway, if anyone knows, please tell me. Also, if anyone knows, are there any recipes you have? ;)

It was a knish.

While available (in certain areas) at 7/11, ball parks, etc., those are horrible examples of the knish and are to be avoided.

Yonah Schimmel's are excellent.

Ah yes, the fabled knish (I'm pretty certain this is what you had).

The first link will give about 20 recipes; the second is to the oldest knish store still in existence that will sell them to you online.

it was probably a knish. you can find them at a 7/11, supermarket, or most ballparks. the most common are potato knishes, thought there are meat filled knishes.

Either knish or blintz.

You can ask your friend because she will know for sure; get her to give you the recipe :)

Glad you enjoyed it.

was it a knish? If so, it would be much easier to buy them than make them yourself.
