Curious isn’t that nobody who was actually writing anything down at the time appears to have known anything at all about Jesus, despite the fantastic miracles he was performing, the multitudes he was preaching to, and of course his momentous and spectacular public demise. And don’t forget this is a guy whose birth was marked by a celestial event, who was born by a miracle, to a virgin, in the year 6 BC. Two miracles for the price of one, talk about hit the ground running and then it was one miracle after another, fed the multitudes, healed the sick, walked on water, raised the dead, He was nailed to a plank and He came back to life again. How can nobody have heard of him? He should have been the talk of the desert. He should have been as famous as Elvis.

Jason: "why would anyone write a 2000 page made up" yada yada? Probably for the same reason that the 911 Commission wrote their 2000 page revelation that fails to mention the pools of molten metal in the basements of the Twin Towers and that fails to mention why tower # 7 collapsed without being struck by a plane, how titanium engines evaporated by Jet fuel when it flew into the pentagon and why the tapes were seized and will not be released to the public..... probably why the Warren Commission wrote it's 2000 page book on the assassination of JFK and probably why the books on the Bay of Tonkin precipitated the Vietnam war but which never actually happened. and so on and so on and so on.

I am a history major and there is proof that Jesus existed. Now, how much you want to go beyond he existed as a human is up to you. He is one of the most important historial figures

There isn't a shred of evidence, contemporary to Christ's "lifetime" concerning his existence. No scholar, follower, or beaurocrat wrote a single word. There isn't a record of his birth, or death (which is extremely odd when you consider that the Romans were meticulous record keepers).
The earliest gospel was written over 30 years after the crucifixion tale, and the last was written 70 years after. Taking into account the average lifespan of an individual at that time, this removes the possibility of them being 'eyewitness' accounts. The four gospels were not written by those who have their names on them; hence the reason that they are called "The gospel according to...". At best they're hearsay.
The works of Josephus (the earliest historian to mention Jesus) are dubious at best, since his primary sponsor, Eusibius, advocated lies, half-truths, and ommisions for the early church to gain and hold political power. Furthermore, Josephus was born in 60 CE; meaning that his writtings couldn't be eyewitness accounts, either. Each and every historian who has written about Christ, has based his writings on hearsay accounts.
To answer your question: without evidence, it's impossible to know for sure whether or not Jesus existed.

I think you have to separate the man from the myth.
Like some things are impossible to believe - that a man could be resurrected as such, become the Son of God, and world saviour, etc etc.
However there is an alternative story - that the celestial event that guided the 3 wise men, would have to be a UFO, object in the heavenly sky that could lead men to a precise location on this earth. That no one could be brought back from being clinically dead - but can be resucitated, if done soon afterwards.
This is actually covered in 'The Talmud Jmmanuel' text - explaining the inconsistancies in the Jesus story we know.
www.tjresearch.info/overview.htm
Also the British documentary "Did Jesus Die?" summarises this and takes the viewer to
www.tombofjesus.com
I have followed up on this - and it is a more believable story, than Christianity's version... which I never could accept...

Historically its a pretty weak case. The only historical records of Jesus come from the early Christian apologist several hundred years after Jesus death. I think its possible. Look at all of the people that have messianic complexes today. Your David Koresh, Jim Jones, etc. Maybe there was some guy name Jesus or Josephia whatever that had a messianic complex and a small cult like following. Whether he actually did exist or not we can say with a high degree of certainty that all of the miracles, virgin birth, raising from the dead, etc.. is complete hogwash.

of path, in case you're removing Christian writers, its like asserting, "are you able to coach Julius Ceasar existed without employing Roman writings?" There are a selection of of man or woman writings approximately Jesus written interior one hundred years of His death. additionally, Pliny the extra youthful, Tacitus and Suetonius (all non-Christians) wrote approximately Jesus. the ideal non-Christian writing of Christ from his term, although, is by employing Josephus, the Jewish historian. He took painstaking efforts in making precise histories. He wrote slightly approximately Jesus and others reported in the NT.

Jesus exist my friend. Talk about being famous, He sure is famous. Jesus is the most talked about person than any other human, alive or dead. Hows that for being more famous than Elvis?
Aren't we Blessed that Christ was given to us? We have the freedom to choose Salvation or reject it. As for me, I choose God's free gift of Salvation. I Love the Lord thy God.
And because of Jesus, Hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Blessings.

Actually, he wasn't born on the celestial event. No one knows when he was actually born, but people wanted to celebrate his birthday, so they chose a pagan midwinter holiday and decided that it was his birthday.

Jesus has always existed. Jesus is real and will save all who turn to Him from sin. Jesus loved us and shed His own blood and died forour sins and rose again.
Now if only someone would prove the FSM.

No. The only source is the bible, and that's been shown to not be the most credible historical source. Josephus wrote a history that mentioned Jesus, but that part was added years after Josephus died.
