Most of my dogs named themselves. For instance Ozzie Osbourne did something wild and crazy. Itty Bitty 's name started as a nickname and then when she didn't grow any more, it stuck. Peanut was the same way; her twin sister's name was Porscha so they were two "P"'s in a pod...no pun intended.
There is really no pressure to name the dog, but sometimes you might look for a human name with meaning. For instance, look up name meanings for girls and boys in a google search. If you want an Australian name, check out what would be a good Aussie type name for a child there.

In the dog world there are no names. So he isn't being hurt by not having a name. So RELAX. The right name will come up. Just keep an ear out for one.
Let his personality help your find a name. Some cultures don't name a person their real name until they are a year old.
Our dog(a queensland shepherd) called "charlie brown" when he didn't have a name and eventually he got the name of Dakota (cody for short) so now I call him Cody Brown. He doesn't care what I call him. but he comes running when I say....."I need to kiss a nose"!

The most popular dog name in North America is Sam, Sammie or Samantha (which means "listener"). The second most popular is Max, Maxie, Maxwell or Maxine (which means "the greatest" in Latin). Third is Lady, followed by Bear, Maggie, Buddy, Tasha, Chelsea (or Chelsie), Holly and Shasta. Other very popular names are Brandy, Ginger and Taffy.

look at baby name websites. there are usually unique names on there and prob won't remind you of anybody in particular. My aussie is named keira which means dark haired beauty.

I like this one because there are different options for what you can select, like meaing or certain letter you want it to begin with.

I had a tri-colored Beagle once, and I named him Harley...I loved that name, but you should go with a name that you love too, so I hope you get some good ideas here...what a great Christmas gift!
