get some eucalyptus essential oil: put a drop on your palm, rub your hands together and then cover your mouth and nose and inhale--go slowly at first, it can be sort of intense, but it will clear your nose and it has an antiseptic effect on your whole system.

if matzoh ball soup is comforting to you, this is an awesome recipe for vegan matzoh ball soup: http://www.theppk.com/recipes/dbrecipes/index.php?RecipeID=147 (there are a bunch of excellent vegan recipes on the site).

drink any tea-- ginger tea is especially good - either get the kind in individual bags or boil chopped up ginger root

drink a green smoothie (if you have a vitamix blender this will work best because they're so powerful but you can do it in another blender too)...an orange, a banana (frozen works great but isn't necessary...freeze with peel removed), some frozen fruit (cherries, strawberries whatever), a green (some spinach, chard or kale), water, and maybe a little bit of fruit juice if you want it sweeter.

rest and sleep.

If you have labored breathing and blurry vision, you might want to call your doctor.

Hot fluids--soups, herbal infusions with agave nectar--are good for sore throats and a stuffy nose, as is a hot shower. If you have a ring diffuser (the sort that goes on a lightbulb) or any other type, get some eucalyptus and clary sage essential oil, mix them in the diffuser and let that clear the room. Drink lots of juice, too. Emergen-C packets--the Super Energy Boost with 1,000 mg vitamin C is what you want--are loaded wtih vitamins.

For weakness and fatigue, nothing but bed rest will help.

I think there's something around--as some people on a message board I frequent are also feeling crummy. Get better soon!

What to eat - Citrus fruits - grapefruit, oranges, and lots of salad. Drink lots of hot tea and water.

How to treat the cold naturally -
Squeeze the juice of two lemons into a cup of boiled water. Add chopped garlic (a lot of it - about 6 - 8 cloves) and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Let steep.
Drink this down (no water or liquids for an hour before and after), including the garlic bits. Repeat every 4 - 6 hours. You should feel better in a day or two.

Also, clean out your system. Take an enema or some kind of laxative to stimulate your bowels to move.

Yes, it seems that something is going around. My favorite cold remedy is homemade ginger licorice tea. Here is a link to the recipe:

When I am too tired to chop up the ginger root and make the tea from scratch I reach for a bag of Traditional Medicinals Organic Ginger Tea. I take a 32 ounce mason jar and add two tea bags, plus a quart of boiling water. Here is the link to the tea bags:

though you can probably purchase them at your local health food store.

I hope this helps.
