I want to but truthfully I don't know how =) I am the only one willing in my family to do it, but I am allowed. So exactly what do I have to do to recycle?

It's great that you are interested in recycling, despite what the rest of your family's opinions are!

Now, to recycle is really going to depend on what services are offered to you where you live. If you have roadside pickup (if you live in a house), then the waste management "teams" will pick up sorted out recyclables that you have separated into separate bins. If you don't have those bins, you would need to contact them to get the necessary ones and find out what the rules are for what your local recyclers will accept. If you live in an apartment/condo where the garbage is typically centralized, it will depend on whether there are recycling bins available outside. If not, you can talk to your Homeowner's Association/Apartment Management to request that they would provide and hope that they agree. If you don't have either option, then you would need to collect your recyclables and take them to a local recycling location, where you can drop off such recyclables for them to recycle.

What you can recycle will typically depend on where you are as well, for what the recyclers accept and recycle. Many plastics are usually accepted, as is cardboard and newspaper and most other paper. Glass is often accepted (and should be accepted more as it's easily recyclable). You need to find out the rules in your area to see. Many recyclers don't want things such as styrofoam, as although it's recyclable, it's so light yet takes up so much room that it's kind of inefficient to transport large quantities of it.

Hope you find things out easy enough and are on the path to regular recycling!

Recycling is done at the city or town level. Google the name of your town & state to see if your town has a website. If they do, they will probably have a page that tells you how to get a bin and what to put in it. If there's no website, call town office or city hall and ask them about the recycling program. Every town has a specific list of what you can recycle, it's all spelled out for you.

If you live in a very small town, there may not be any recycling program.

Look on the bottom of boxes and stuff it usually shows a little triangle thing meaning it is recycable. Then look at the number to see what you should recycle. You should also recycle paper and cardboard boxes. Cans and bottles should also be recycled. You could just through everything in recycling because it would eventually be brought to the right place, but it is best if you don't do that. I hope this helps. :)

To recycle is mainly separating materials into like bins. Have a bin for plastics, a bin for metal, and one for paper. That pretty much does the main separations. If you want to eliminate more garbage have a separate bin for compost right there you will reduce 50% of your garbage. This is the easiest way of recycling. Then you must find out if someone takes it for you or if you have to have it picked up, or if you can drop it off at some location. But if you get 3 bins and label them metal, plastic and paper your on your way to recycling.

Hope that helps

Theres alot of things going on because of not recycleing. Becuase people dont recyle we have animals dead. Thing like plastic get dropped in to the ocean. When you buy the soda packs those clear plastic rings around it you should cut otherwise and animals will get stuck and could even chocke and die because of that so cut them up! also if you but those big sota bottles most people put the soda bottles in the garbage =O you take the cap off and putt it in the garbage and the bottle in the recycling! This is a hard thing to do everyday i had to get used to it but in the end ur helping the enviorment and the earth! and soon enough all ocean animals will be gone! so convince your family to recyle with you and help the enviorment!

It depends what city you live in, but if in the states you can call 311 and ask them to give you recycling bins- usually green for yard waste (leaves etc) and blue for everything else- cardboard, glass, and tin. Then you rinse out your old glass and tin, or rip up your cardboard, and put it in the bin- the city will come by once a week to pick it up! You're doing the right thing, good for you- if there were more people like you the world would be a better place.

For recycling plastic and glass bottles and cans, a local recycling center near a Stater Bros. might have it. You would typically have a green bin separate from your normal trash and use that to fill it with recyclable bottles and cans. However, you might want to devise a way to separate bottles and cans since you will need to sort them out yourself. (i.e.: separate bins).

For recycling paper, this will be harder. Local schools or community centers probably host this, since locations such as paper recycling centers collect them in large increments. Google will be helpful for this ;).

For recycling cell phones, used glasses, etc etc anything else recyclable, well, that depends on the community. ;)

Collect all of your plastics, aluminum, paper, card board, glass and take it to a grocery store that recycles. I know IKEA recycles almost anything. Also contact your city officials or waste management to see if the city recycles.

Well there are several things you can do.
Don't throw away Pop cans in the trash, take them back to the grocery store, or put them in the recycle bin at your home, also same thing goes for plastic milk gallons, and old newspapers and paper bags, any kind of plastic bottles get the same thing as well.

check your townships directory online -each town has a website and it should have recycling info in it. There should be a recycling department in your town or at least your county. You can just bring it there if your town doesn't collect it. Also reuse things. Give your old clothes to the salvation army, garage slaes or thrift stores, or homeless shelters.
