Both are entertaining and both have different schticks.
Bourdain tries to delve into the culture while Zimmern's gig is to eat obscure/gross foods.
If I had to chose between the two, I'd pick Bourdain for trying to explain the culture he's presenting and getting the back-alley view. One of Bourdain's best scenes was in Hong Kong watching the old dude make noodles with a bamboo pole. Bourdain watched and admired. His commentary was that this was a dying art since the younger generation was off doing better things.

Personally I prefer Andrew Zimmern because I like the fact that he travels to all these places trying food most Americans wouldn't dream of trying. Also, Zimmern does explain the cultures he travels to through their food which is what my research interest entails. Anthony Bourdain kind of rubs me the wrong way with his arrogant attitude.

Bourdain rules! Zimmern is just doing what Bourdain already started years ago. Plus I love AB's dry NYC attitude.

Bourdain. At first his cynicism got on my nerves, but now I find it a bit refreshing. Sad isn't it? Zimmern is o.k., but he talks too much, flatters too often, and is over enthusiastic. Reminds me of the bald guy off the Three Stooges...only less funny.
Of the two, if I had to watch one guy go to different countries and basically "represent" America to a variety of indigenous people...I'd rather have the snarky and somewhat aloof guy who chain smokes rather than the loud and overly boisterous one who constantly talks with his mouth full and drowns his sushi in soy sauce. *shudder*

I like both guys but Bourdain is my favorite. He did an entire show on the cuisine of Cleveland, Ohio. His sarcastic humor mixed with genuine interest was a classic.

Bourdain he's just so damn hot!!!! He's witty and urbane and looks like he's really lived life. I think he wins hands down. Zimmern I don't like, he'll eat anything one and on a recent show when he went to my island he was eating things no one eats there. I was appalled, he just goes for the gross factor.

Tony all the way. I like his attitude and he's a bit more honest about when other cultures are kind of odd to him. Zimmern is good too, but he goes out of his way to eat the gross stuff and it gets to be a bit much. I've eaten at Tony's restaurant and read his books too.

Love AB, he actually explores a culture and its cuisine. His show is more informative. He seems like a better chef too, he knows food.
I feel like Zimmern just goes somewhere and seeks out nasty food. He doesnt really seem to do anything else except eat weird stuff. I find it hard to believe he's a chef, he seems like a nice guy but just not a professional chef. More like a professional eater.

Boudain! He's gives a much better commentary and his show is a good balance of cuisine, culture, eating rituals, traditions....
He shows a real respect for other cultures and their food. I am really looking forward to his new season.
