Our 1994 Jeep was totally destroyed by fire. The reason was because of a flat tire, we put the original, never used, compact tire on it and aprox. 9 miles down the road, our Jeep caught on fire. The Jeep was in mint condition with only 60,000 miles on it,Has anyone ever filed a claim with their insurance company over this kind of thing? we would like to hear from you. Please email me at rsh_sndy@yahoo.com. We are going to court with Chrysler Corperation. Thanks

when I said mint condition, I meant ,no rust, dents, cracks in the leather seatsrigional paint.etc.AND the spare was origional and never used. Everything worked,I have alot of documents that I got online about other people having this same problem, only with a 1996 and they were all recalled. So they did know about this problem

Your jeep apparently had the full time 4WD system in it in order for your loss to occur. Putting a different size tire on a vehicle that is either all wheel drive or full time 4WD an overheating condition would arise. Your vehicle caught on fire because you installed a different size tire on either axle (doesn't matter which) and on a full time 4WD system it throws the 4WD system into some what of a frenzy trying to figure out what axle and what wheel to provide power to, and after doing that a while the differentials, and transfer case will overheat.

Right after I purchased my Jeep I noticed it had a temporary spare tire. I have never used one before and quickly went on a search for a full size wheel and tire, and $85 later I had one at a local Good Year tire center. About 3 months later I received the recall notice in the mail about the tire issue.

I'm sorry for your vehicle loss. It seems to me like Chrysler keeps getting more and more lax every year in their safety and design ideas. No wonder they're going out of business.

There isn't any huge difference between the 94 and 96 model jeeps except small cosmetic differences. The drive-train is the same.

Below is a website that you can enter your vehicle information and it will bring up every recall for your vehicle. Do this and take it with you to court to prove that its never been a recall issue. Also you can punch in the info on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and it shows the recall on there for the spare tire problem.

MInt condition with 60,000. Thats a good one. You'll lose. Something of common sense made it catch fire and it wasn't Chrysler. Good luck anyway.
