Your dad is a wise man. And you don't need to explain it to him, he is well aware that Christians often practice exclusivity. But don't burden him with it. He is free and he knows what is right for him.

There are several e-books that you can get FREE... until December 31 that is, and one of them, titled "How We Got the Bible," might help on the question of the scriptures. The print edition is 96 pages, so it will give you a lot more information than I could here.

Zondervan has a $25 "coupon code" toward downloads from their "Pradis" library. http://www.zondervan.com/interactive
has the coupon info on the right column, just below a link that will take you to the main Pradis web page. Once there, check for "How We Got the Bible" listed in the reference section. This only "costs" $5.99 of your free $25, so keep shopping. The Pradis program is a very powerful "text engine" developed for Biblical studies and allows complex searches with logical AND, OR, XOR, and NOT constructions.

This "Quick Reference Series" book is directed at "everyday people" who haven't spent years studying the history of the Bible, so it explains "jargon" terms and presents ideas on a simplified level. In short, the claims that the Bible has been "interpreted and translated over and over again" are either deceptive or misleading. The facts of its history paint a different picture.

A few of the earliest English Bibles may have been the result of "sequential or successive translations," but virtually all recent translations have been done based on the best available Greek and Hebrew (with a few chapters of Aramaic) original language manuscripts of the scriptures.

1st of all , praises to you for wanting to help your dad better understand :) Its not an easy task but I will try to help.
Firstof all , every other Religion does not lead to the same path. Trying to explain this view will not be easy because Christianity is based on faith in Jesus and believing he is the only way to our Father GOD .Jesus is the only significant person ,for lack of a better word , In any religion that died and came back to life . Budda is still dead and Mohammed is also. There is no other belief that can back their history with as much proof as the BIble ..
As for the authenticity of the BIble , let your dad know that there were alot of ancient writers that spoke of and agreed with the apostle concerning the authenticity of JESUS . A few would be Polycarp,Hippolytus,Eusebius. The list could go on....Your dad needs a good book that gives the writings of these and other ancient writers. If he is willing to investigate , then he will seek the answer.
The last thing is pretty hard to take but if your dad is not open to what you say , you can talk till your blue and it will not matter..

The best thing to do is PRAY for your dad. GOD will hear you :)

My opinion is Christiantiy requires some investigation with people that are skeptical. I myself investigated through writings and history of the ancient writers.
I decided if I was going to give my all to a belief , then I should arm myself with all the facts .

One thing you could ask your dad is How many other religions ( per se) had apostles that believed so adamatly in JESUS that they would die for him.
These are men that had no reason to give up a thing accept for the fact that they knew JESUS had risen from the grave . James ,JESUS'S own brother, didn't even believe in him till after his death and subsequent ressurection.

Trying to explain Christianity to anyone that is not open to it is near impossible. They have to be open to accept what you are saying and truefully, your dad doesn't sound open.
Again I say PRAY .. Pray hard for you father and consisitently.
Pray until you get a response. Pray like you never have before because his salvation could depend on it.

When you pray ask Jesus to come into your fathers life and open his heart. Ask Jesus to change how your father thinks an help him to better understand .
Without doing this 1st , you are setting yourself up for failure.
I hope I could help a little :)

You Father is like many people today who are making up their own rules and deciding what god should be like for them. His mother and father did not get to choose whether or not he was a girl or a boy or what he was going to look like. Well, so it is with God. He is who he is.
The bible was written by the hands of about 66 different men. Yet all were spoken to by the Spirit of God about what to write. They were not writing their own words. This God who created all the Heavenly bodies in space and time and who made all the intriquet workings of the cells and plants and animal biology was able to do this and to keep it pure through all history.
Yet, most people will not believe that the first false religion was in the Garden of Eden when Satan planted a lie into the mind of Eve and she convinced Adam to follow this lie. This is the same thing people are doing today, following the lie. That God isn't really going to judge us as we can all find him in our own way.
So Jesus came as the one promised in the Garden so all men from Adam and Eve could be saved by faith in that one Savior and there is no other way.

Peace. properly, why did Paul persecute the early Christians? except the veil is lifted from human beings's eyes and 'hearts' they are going to proceed to villify JW's. A deceived international won't be able to determine wisely who rather is a real follower of Jesus the Christ, who try to worship YHWH/ JEHOVAH in spirit and actuality. John 4:23, 24. Acts 28:22.

There is an explanation of this that seems to be outside of your experience. But I ask you to listen to it, and ponder it without prejudice. When Christ came to earth, He came to institute a Church, not a religion. And that Church remained intact as the Catholic Church until the Protestant Reformation by Martin Luther. Then the many derivative forms began. But the Church under the Pope remains in direct Communion with Christ and under His Promise: Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. Peter was the first Pope, and there is a successive lineage from him. Jesus+ is the Font of Love and Mercy itself, and we believe that due to the great prayer of the Church, the Mass, and the prayer of the Church for Christian Unity and for conversion of all peoples, that Christ will be victor over all. The Bible says that when He comes He will impose terms on many people, but that He comes with His remedies in hand. The lame shall walk, the blind shall see and the deaf shall hear. We are fellow travelers on the same road, but divided by many ways. He says that His Body is real food and His Blood is real drink, and it is offered in the Mass by that priesthood conformed by Holy Orders to the eternal priesthood of Melchizadek. It is our prayer that you receive this Gift leading to Eternal Life, purchased in the everlasting Covenant by the Blood of Our Lord, Jesus+ Christ. The Word of God is most effectatious in the Church when seen through the Doctrine and Liturgy and is manifest or visible in its fullness. One place to see this in action is on EWTN. Give him the Gospel, that the only way to be saved and go to heaven and not eternal hell, is by believing that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

Show him by your example and your love. I found that just being there and ready to help and pray for him will do what no amount of browbeating can.

First of all, live the life before your dad, & don't Bug him about it, in living the life you should live, God will deal with him one day. Because your dad will see that there is something special in your life.
