Nah.....
They would have gone shoe shopping on the way and missed the whole thing.....
And the gifts would have gone on a store card at 35% APR.

yet another case of ignorance .....(1) the 3 wise men did not have to ask for directions, they were guided by a star, (2) they were wise men not midwifes, (3) the stable had NO stove how could have made casserole, (4) "brought practical gifts" - sic* the gifts they brought were more valuable than Tupperware
Be guided my friend, peace on earth cannot be left up to a group who get all hot and sweaty for a toilet seat.

Mary would have been given useful gifts, such as a bottle of bubbly to calm her nerves, a bumper pack of Pampers and the divorce papers for Joseph to sign - she's had enough of this immaculate conception malarchy.
The 3 wise women would have used their SatNav rather than a star.
they would have also booked Mary a room in the nearest Hilton or similar, called an ambulance - get the pros in and order a takeaway for after.
Sounds like a plan to me!

Your question is more than a little naive - firstly the figure three is purely presumptuous based on the 'three' gifts and then secondly you use the term 'wise women' - I mean I know it is Christmas and the season of goodwill but do you really believe there is such a thing as a 'wise woman' let alone three of them? - Sounds like a 'coffee morning' gone wrong!
You do make the valid point about them asking for directions, I mean women and maps etc etc. That said in this case it was a star they followed but they probably got confused which one!
BIG SMILE and a very happy Christmas [including all those budding 'wise women']

Or...
...Joseph would have got a slap for bringing Mary into such a hovel to give birth.
...Joseph would have been sent out to do something useful, gather firewood, get linen, ..etc.
...Joseph would have had to arrange for the animals to be rehoused, the women not wanting them around a newborn.
...Joseph would have had to got tea's for all the ladies concerned.
Basically, what ever happens afterwards, Joseph's life would have made a misery.

After the visit, they would probably have gossiped about the Messiah to the hearing of King Herod, with potentially dire consequences......
