Since there is no proof a god exists, why believe in one?
If you answer: Because there is no proof that one does NOT exist.
Consider: If I told you that there was a race of pink unicorns living on the dark side of the moon, you would disregard the idea as fake and me as a nutjob if I had failed to provide proof. However, would using the argument "because there is no proof that these pink unicorns do NOT exist, they are real" change your mind or even make any logical sense?
For another example, take Greek mythology. There is no proof that Zeus does not, so why dismiss him as a myth?
Please note: This is about believing in a god. Period. This in no way has anything to do with any one particular religion as all are partially proven wrong by Science and thus invalidates the rest.

Wow... Nice answers, not. None of you have provided reason for believing in a god.
You have simply said "OMFG BELIEVE IN HIM BECAUSE THE WORLD IS THE WORLD!"
It's like me saying, "You should believe in the race of pink unicorns on the dark side of the moon because grass is green."
However, I should have expected this from a lot of you.

It is far easier to believe in god than in evolution. Belief in evolution involves learning. Belief in god only requires that people believe what they are told by a few others in very simple language. If people do not want to think, religion is clearly superior and more attractive.

When you say God, I'm assuming that you're talking about any God of any religion, so I'll try not to get into the details of just Christianity.
First of, you're right that there is no solid, %100 proof in a God. If there was, there wouldn't be any atheists out there. Even many people who do believe in God sometimes question their faith because there isn't solid evidence of him/her existing. So really, what keeps me as well as millions of others believing that there is a God out there is pure faith.
There are a few questions you should ask your self if you decide to become an atheist, though. For example - What percentage of this universe do you know about and is within your field of experience? Probably not too much. Then, isn't it possible that God exists outside of your field of experience?
Or... Why is it that our Earth is perfectly suited to maintain life on it - could this have been possibly been designed by someone higher than us? There isn't scientific evidence that God doesn't exist either.
So, faith is pretty much why I believe in God without proof. If you aren't satisfied with that, then alright.

To say this why believe in the things you do just because you see them and they are in front of you it is logical to most. I might cannot see God but check this out I can feel his presence and it surrounds me and it is awesome. I can't explain to you how everything was made but think about how did things get here. I am just crazy enough to believe that God did it all and I know you don't want to hear it but I believe every word in the book. Faith is all you need and seeing the things God did in my life o yea I believe.

Take the making of a child from sperm and egg. The trees, animals, sky. Everything you see in your life everyday is proof. Why do you sit in a chair believing it will support you? Because you have the faith that it will support you and not break once you sit in it. The same goes for God. All you need is faith, no one has proof. It's just believing.

The real issue is "why believe in god without one whit of evidence?".

Who created the heavens and earth and all things? If there is no God, there is nothing, there is no you to enjoy all these things! Think about this, when you take your next breath!
