placentina or coristina? What is that?

You need to see a vet for her if she has difficulty. Obviously if she has had puppies in the past, she can pass them unless they are not placed correctly.

I wouldn't breed her after this age. She needs a rest. Seven plus is just too old to breed.

A 7 year old bltch is NOT TOO OLD to give birth. In fact she is still very much within the accepted 'breeding' age. However, I do not understand what you mean with the procedure you apply to your dog?

I have been a mid-wife to many a bltch and never come across any difficulties of this nature. If she has passed the 62 days and is going into labour, based on her previous experience which sounds unorthodox and pretty scary, she may be terrified to push or allow the natural flow to take its course. You usually only intervene if you have a breach-birth.

Do you know anything about the father i.e. the stud? The puppies may well be too big or as I said, the memory of the first birth is too painful and she is unable to cooperate. How do you know she is in trouble? Have the puppies moved to the birth canal? Giving birth is one of the most natural things in life and all you need to do is comfort the soon to be mother with lots of soothing sounds. Plenty of fresh water to drink. Has the water broken? Did you prepare a place for her or indeed is she comfortable with this area?

I have to say that I am a little puzzled that you ask for advice on an internet forum when you are dealing with a potentially life or death situation. We do not know what is going on from the two sentences you put down and since you seem to be concerned, contacting a vet is obviously the first thing to do. Bltches going into labour can take time, before the puppies are born. No different to humans giving birth.

You can gently massage her body and find out what is happening inside, but if you have no experience and are in a state, you make the soon to be mother even more nervous. It is making me nervous, just thinking about it. I hope you will take action to reduce any potential stress to both the Mum and for your own peace of mind. Please be careful and consider the position you are in. Try not to experiment on your girl, giving birth is tough on animals also.

If you have not already done so, do call your veterinarian, they WILL be open this morning. There can be many reasons for her to have difficulty that have nothing to do with her age - even young bitches can have difficulty - but when they do, the best place for her to be is at the vet clinic. They will x-ray her to see how many puppies there are, and how they are positioned. The vet may be able to help her deliver naturally or may recommend a C-section. Whatever happens at least you know that you have tried to do what is right for her. If you have not already called the vet on the phone, please do so right away! Even if you are not in the USA I am sure there must be a vet that is on duty somewhere in your town today.

Well why don't you just do that again?

Or better yet, why don't you get the poor suffering animal to a vet and never breed again? You have no right to do this to an animal. What the hell is wrong with you?

Typical Dachshund! Take her to the vet, she may need a C-Section, if you wait too long you may lose mother and pups.

Well if it worked once, try it again. Of course you could stop breeding her, or depend upon your Vet.

You need to take her to your veterinarian immediately before she or the puppies become ill.

i think breeding weird breeds should be considered as animal cruelty.

she will pass down the "difficulty to give birth gene" to her children.
