Let me start off by saying that I'm not a hairy guy to begin with, but I do shave and trim my pubic hair when it get too long. I dread shaving because I always get red bumps from irritation no matter how gentle I am. Are there any products out there that you can simply apply to remove hair? Or is the only other alternative waxing? Please help. Thank you!

I only posted it here, because I knew I would get a faster and more knowledgable response than if I posted it in the Men's Health section. LOL. Thank you guys for being so helpful. I'll be sure to stop shaving and look into hair removal products.

If you're getting red bumps from irritaton, hair removal creams and lotions will probably make you have allergic red bumps.

Try waxing, ir hurts but lasts longer and you won't have any problem.

P.S. You should better post this question on Men's Health section.

This is not as uncommon as you think. I would bet money that when you started shaving your beard the same thing happened, very common for blacks and people of Mediterranean descent. If it happens on your beard it happens every where. I am in the latter group, when I started shaving my pubes the same thing happened to me. You need to try the same thing that worked on your face-

Shave regularly (if you can see it shave it works best for those of us with this problem)-use a fresh blade every time-shave with the growth-use a good after shave /conditioner to help.

Two other things that work for me that I took from the ladies-do this in the shower (lots of water to with, warm air opens the pores) and at night (having pants on irritates the area right after shaving).

The creams that are out there work, but remember that they work by chemically burning the hair. If it burns hair it will burn skin, and that will be uncomfortable if you do not follow the directions to the letter. Been there, did that, no need.

Look in the hair removal aisle for a bikini area hair removal product. Also, if you soak the area for a few minutes, use a shampoo for lathering down there, and keep it moist and soapy the whole time you are shaving, you will not get the bumps you are speaking of.

first and foremost you seem to have what is called razor rash and this normally comes about when your using soap which actually blocks the razor where as shave cream or body wash are better or you can get a mousse which great you apply it leave a few mins then shower off you can purchase from super market

Veet has a product where you apply a cream to the hairy areas and keep it on for a certain amount of time then wipe it off = taaaadaa.

Yes, hair removal cream, it really works, get at the drug store/grocery store. Be careful don't leave it on too long.

yes you can use veet or nair or most chemists have their own brand. It will go ultra smooth and takes longer to grow back too!
