God is the beginning of all knowledge.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
John 1:1-2.
Fear is a healthy feeling, it promotes respect. You fear your parents because they have authorthy over you - you fear God the same way too.

At the time this was written the fear of God just meant that some thing or activity will make the hair on the back of your neck stand straight up. And if nothing else will make you straighten up and fly right the fear of God will. That was indeed smart and the beginning of most knowledge at the time.

The fear of imaginary gods is a show of non-knowledge. Thinking with an open and rational mind brings understanding, and understanding takes away the fear form imaginary gods. Knowledge is happiness and freedom. Religion is misery and oppression.

That is true, except you inserted the word "all".
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I can see truth behind that. The Bible states clearly that all truth comes from God, so the beginning of knowledge must come from an understanding of who God is...the one who created everything. God is the mastermind behind all the intricate workings of all that we know and many things we probably don't know, so knowledge must begin with an inherent understanding of God.
