My right pupil is sometimes slightly bigger than my left, it is visible to other people when they look and myself. The size difference is not major but i would say sometimes 20% ish bigger, there are no other physical symptoms that accompany this. The majority of the time both are completely normal. My Dr said becuase our faces are not symetrical there is going to be a slight difference and its nothing to worry about, Is this the case? does anybody else expereince this? wtc

It is estimated that one in every 1000 have unequal pupils that is attributed to hereditary. However, not everyone develop an unequal pupils when their parents have one.

There are various other reasons too for this condition which is purely an emergency. Conditions such as brain tumours, blood vessel disorders within the brain, bleeding within the brain, epidural and subdural bleeding, optic neuritis, Glaucoma, brain concussion and head injuries all can cause unequal pupils. While suffering these conditions, the victim may also suffer with head ache, nausea and vomitting, lethargy, fluctuation in the level of their consciousness in addition with the unequal pupils.
I hope, you are not suffering with those symptoms in which case, I suspect it could be inherited.
Hope, this helps.

Take a look at David Bowie. He has vastly different sized pupils, and his came about, apparently, as a result of an injury he received when he was a child.

I'd be inclined to go along with your doctor's suggestion that it's nothing to worry about, particularly if you don't have symptoms that might suggest something else.
