Ok guys, I'm really curious what does the, "I'm not ready to be in a relationship," mean? I mean if you're spending alot of time with someone and really like them, would this "line" even matter?
Does it mean this person won't give you a chance and you should forget about it? or does this mean the timing is just bad and they'll come around?
I'd really like to hear the honest perspective of those who've said this or have heard it before.
Thanks

This guy who said it to me is actually a very good friend of mine who I've been seeing for the past 4 months and have been intamate. I'm starting to believe it's based on a physical level and never going to get to the BF/GF level. Thanks for the replies :)

I like what I've read in responses and I think they are correct when they make the distinction between if that reply comes from a man or a woman. If a man says that, roughly translated, he is saying, "I want to keep my options open, but if you want to have a purely physical relationship with no strings attached, I'm your guy." If a woman says that line, it means, "There is no WAY you're ever going to see me naked. So just find someone else."

i in my opinion think of that no rely how shy a guy is, or claims to be ....if he's certainly interested in you, he will hit upon a thank you to artwork around his shyness, and finally end up with that guy or woman indirectly, by ability of a few ability... it fairly is o.ok. to ask him out, in case you incredibly believe he's shy, and he's certainly interested in you, or is he purely enjoying some form of head game which you do no longer want, purely you additionally could make this form of determination, such as you stated he's conscious which you're very interested in him, i in my opinion might forgot approximately him, if he hasn't asked you out or shown any pastime in you yet, this could motivate the guy to do the artwork and ask you out, leaving the determination as much as him......solid success

The person is either not into you or ain't ready for commitment. If you hang around 2 see whether the person comes around or not you might even waist your time. Tell the person to be honost and tell you straight forward what he wants.

It could either mean he's not interested, but it is possible that it could also mean that he's scared of getting close to someone, especially if he's not long been out of a close relationship. More likely though, he's not interested.

maby hes got to much going on to have time to commit to a relationship at that moment or he's happy single for now and just having a flirt around, that's what it would probably mean if i said it.

It means that he wants to remain in the position to date other girls if he wants to. Don't go falling in love with him, he may find someone else. It appears that you are not the right one, or you have surfaced at the wrong time in his life.

it can be many things
depending upon the person
and how much you trust
the person who's saying those words
sometimes it means they're not into you
and sometimes it means they're just sincerely not ready
it's a hard one i'll give you that.
