i've heard stories about warm milk helping people sleep, and was wondering why does it help you sleep? what difference does it make ; warm or cold?

Warm milk, chamomile tea, honey if you like. Warm calcium and chamomile are both mild sedatives. Lipton "Quietly Chamomile" or Selestial Seasonings "Sleepy Time Tea. " Tasty too.

warm is more "comforting"
tryptophan, an amino acid, can make you feel sleepy. It is the same amino acid found in large quantities in turkey. Along with an overstuffed stomach on Thanksgiving the tryptophan gets everyone ready for a nap!!
