No, the bible is simply a guide in life. Truth to one person is untrue to another its a matter of opinion really !! :)

Nothing is true 'just because it says so.'
What goes for the books of the Bible goes for every other book too: you have to decide for yourself as you read whether or not it has the ring of truth to it.
Naturally enough this can be a fairly complex matter: even in ordinary everyday conversations 'truth' is working at many different levels. We all know how to 'read between the lines'; we all 'hear' meanings that are unspoken; we all accept that poetry, scientific textbooks and personal letters, for example, need different approaches from their readers in order for there to be full understanding of what the writer intended.
Why should the Bible be any different?

The Bible has always passed the intense scrutiny it receives since its conception. Places/people that archaeologists would claim never existed have been found. Descriptions of geographic places have been confirmed. Outside historical records have confirmed the occurrences within the Bible. Not to mention that there is confirmation that the words within have not changed for over 2000 yrs. when compared to the Dead Sea Scrolls.
ohhhh... and things seem to just work a whole lot better when you do things God's way.

(2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
There is nothing in the bible that directs people who read it to go out and HARM other people.
Jesus told the story of the good Samaritan as an example of how we should treat others.
On that basis alone, the Bible should be read and OBEYED.

The bible is a book of ideals that many aspire to and if you go against that then the so called Christians become scorned and inflict there wrath upon you, i.e by reporting anyone who goes against the great comic book "The Bible"

If you do some historical research it is possible to find all sorts of historical references to events recorded in the gospels and in the book of acts.
I have published my own historical research on the internet complete with references to many ancient sources in different languages, eastern and western. This question interests me generally and I have been working on it for years.
Non-believers keep plugging away on here about the lack of scientific evidence, but they don't want to know about the historical evidence. I wonder why?
Happy Christmas to all who celebrate it on R&S.

Hey willy! Test it! God said, "Test my word" see if it is true! YOu are your own man... Here's something cool: Say this, The one that created all this stuff I'm looking at,... are you there? And if you are reveal yourself to me! Wow! He will! Now ask yourself this... Why can't I just ask that question? There just might be a creator? Could it be true? No... I'll listen to all the other stories.... Mabey it's time you just asked yourself... What do you have to lose? 1. OK, nothing happened... 2. The creator revealed himself to you! only 1 of 2 things can happen, you have lossed nothing... and might gain everything! JIL:)

There is this movie out called "A Case for Christ" where a non-believer tries to disprove the bible and in the meantime ends up a believer. He finds a lot of objective evidence that is compelling. Also, you do know from experience but if you don't feel God in your heart than do more research. Even some of the biggest Darwinists cannot prove all things through evolution. Just as a Christian cannot prove all things through the bible...you have to have faith through your own understanding.
And Merry CHRISTmas to all. It is always funny to me that the people that are athiests/agnostics are all out shopping for Christmas. Why celebrate the birth of Christ if you don't believe? Just curious b/c I see so many non-believers on here right before the holidays and I always wonder if they are going to celebrate Christmas.

The bible contains the divine truths God chose to reveal to humanity. Its not about science or geography. John Paul II wrote, The Bible is God's love letter to his children.
Science depends on empirical evidences but the creator of intelligence expects us to have faith in his word proven true by raising Jesus from the dead in his glory, a transcendent way of being infinitely perfect.

Experience.
Example- 1 Timothy 6: 9, 10
However, those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many senseless and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains
You can see the results of people doing ANYTHING for the dollar.... they end up having more problems, hence they "stab themselves all over" with piling debt, broken families, jail sentences, ruined reputation etc.
