I'd like to experience boot camp, specifically the marines, but never want to join the military. Is this possible?

I think there are private companies that put on a boot camp type program for civilians. But you can't experience the real boot camp unless ya sac up and join, lol.

No. I don't think it is possible. It costs quite a bit of money to put a soldier through boot camp, and the Marines would want a commitment for that investment. There are a few private camps around the country though that similate boot camp. See if the "Missouri 51st" still does that. I'm sure they must have a web site. Those guys can get you closer to military boot camp training than the military can.

If you are referring to actual Marine Boot Camp the answer is No they don't do a boot camp for people not joining the Marines. There is some civilian companies that do similar training and you could check into those but I could not give any reference or send you to one most like the Marines. Went to the actual so don't care about copies.

When I went through AF basic training seventeen years ago, the average cost of getting a troop from the recruiter's office to his or her first duty station was about $133,000. And our basic training was only six weeks long. I'm guessing but I would venture to say that the Marines spend considerably more....I don't see them voluntarily spending some serious dough and time on somebody who wants "the experience."

Why don't you just come on in and get the full effect?

something you probably wouldnt wanna do without enjoying the long term glory and fullfillment after completing it...who wants to go thru that kind of hell and mental and physical chance and then just go home and go back to your life? it seriously changes you as a person, sometimes not for the better. i dont think theres a way to do that without enlisting, and if there were youd be seriously laughed at and ripppeeddd by every marine on earth

If you want to experience it than you might as well join because there shouldn't be any reason at all for you to want to put yourself through that kind of HELL if you don't want to join the Military!

why would you do that? the Basic training part of the military is only the start of the whole military experience.

No, absolutely not. its a military basic training depot, not a summer camp to gain confidence.
