It's been out for a good 3 hours and the chill is off, but It's late now and I want to put it off until the morning. What should (can) I do?
Leave it out so it'll be ready tomorrow, or put back in fridge??

You can leave the butter out without any problems. As for the eggs, put them back in the refrigerator and in the morning, put some warm water in a pan and just set them in there for a little while. They will come to room temperature pretty quickly. I do this all the time, as I usually forget to get the eggs out so they can get to room temp. Happy Baking!

Funny. I just did the same thing earlier tonight. I am leaving them both out and making the cookies in the morning. They will be fine, I've done this many times. I used to live in Italy and EVERYONE stored their eggs on the counter at room temp, but used them within a few days. You can leave the butter out for a few days also, but it will start to turn rancid after that.

As long as the shells are intact and the butter is covered it is OK. Wouldn't wait much longer than in the AM to be on the safe side.
