Just make sure your cremation wishes are explicit in your will, and make sure you have that will wrote up by an attorney who knows his/her stuff. Make sure that a copy of your will is available to someone that you trust. You can even prepay for your cremation!

Your best shot at having that occur is to inform your next of kin of your desires, place the same request in your last will and testament, and have the service pre-arranged and even paid for up front.

I've informed MY family that I don't really CARE what they do with me after I die, as long as they are sure I am quite dead prior to starting to do whatever they choose.

They are also aware of my wishes to have an open coffin (if that's the way they choose to go) ONLY for immediate family and close friends. After that, I want the cover slammed shut with nothing more than a picture of me on the cover. Additionally, they have been informed that I prefer to not have a lavish service used to dispose of me.

I'd be just as pleased knowing that they got rid of my remains for about $400 (which ain't EVER gonna happen)

Tell your next of kin, and pre-plan your funeral arrangements.

Inform your next of kin. You can also buy prepaid funeral plans.
