I don't believe in long distance relationships, it's too hard. There are exceptions to every rule - but asence does not make my heart grow fonder. I am in love with my fiance, but we have a very strong bond - I think we could mke it a lot longer than I ever thought possible - but there are so many factors. Trust, love, security (not being insecure) - these all have to be perfect for it to work.

My step-mom and my dad were together for three years or more before they got married and the whole time they were in a long distance relationship. She worked (and still does) for the Department of Defense and was stationed in Italy at the time. My dad would see her during the summer time (she was a teacher, so she had the summers off) and during winter break and maybe another time if either of them had vacation time.
They got married in 2000 and have been married ever since, of course they been living together since then.
Long distance relationships can work if you both come to an agreement on all sorts of things, trust and commitment.
I will have to agree that a lot of them do not work out and when I say a lot its probably close to none of them.

Its possible, but let me tell you from firsthand experience of being in a long distant relationship that lasted the duration of 3 years that it takes a lot of communication everyday and extreme commitment to make it work. If they decide to stay together only time will tell if it will strengthen their relationship, or distance themselves away.

My bf and I only live an hour away from each other, and it has been hard. I can't imagine being that far away from someone I loved. I would have to go with him.

Anything is possible--but probably won't happen. what is the point of Never seeing a partner--it is a crazy idea. But your friend can try it---it is HER decision, not yours. Mind your business.
