I see that the atheists have in large part failed to answer your question. They have instead redirected the question to you, proving your point for you, blaming you in their answer. But they don't hold an exclusive on that reaction.
Perhaps the answer to your question is that they feel that they have the moral high ground and that many Believers have expressed themselves in ugly ways that cause a hosts of negative reactions, and in this they are often justified. Still, I see a lot of flaming going on that only undermines the whole conversation on both sides. I asked nearly this same question, still open for now, and received great hostility from both sides. I really want a straight dignified answer, and all I have received was . . . vitriol. From both sides.

I'm an atheist and I don't get pissed off or defensive. I respect everyone's religious beliefs. When people start fighting over religion, I get angry and pissed off. Religion isn't something that should be fought over. It's simply a belief. Atheists just want people to open their minds and think outside the box. I have much more respect for a catholic that converted to a Muslim than a catholic who remained catholic for the rest of his or her life. People just have to start believing in what they want to believe and not what they were brought up to believe. A lot of atheists might be bitter because they are looked down upon in society. I believe that only 15 percent of the country said that they wouldn't mind having an atheist in the white house. Some atheists are misunderstood and labeled as bad people.

I don't think most atheists are angry but we do get tired of Christian arrogance and the way they get in our faces. We actually don't care what you believe its your buisness but some Christians seem to think they have a right to try and hector and bully others and impose their beliefs. No wonder some of us get a bit annoyed with them. But the thing I find most unattractive about Christians is the way they moan and whinge and go all poor little me when you come back at them.
Don't pick on atheists and they'll cheerfully ignor you.
I'm getting really bored with this I think my Near Year resolution is going to be not to respond to Christians' questions and not address anymore questions to them. It is an utterly pointless exercise.

its because they are ruled with unforgiveness.
i see posts from unbelievers all the time, asking the same thing over and over. it is not a good enough basis to get angry at them.
if you want an example. the issue of evil and suffering, natural disasters etc. and creation evolution.
1 God will end evil and suffering, just giving us enough time to repent.
2 natural disasters came along with man's rebellion.
3 creation evolution.
abiogenesis does not conflict with creation and is neither part of evolution but rather a totally different subject. -life from non life.
Genesis states God commanded the waters to bring forth the animals... sounds alot like your primordial soup.
sadly people read genesis so many times, some even as arrogant as to say they read the whole bible.. and yet they didn't even understand it.
as for humans coming from apelike ancestors-- yes NOT APES. apelike. who is to say that humans descended from apes and not apes descended from humans?- being product of the nephillem chapter.

Why atheists? - them getting all the 'stones thrown into their garden'?
Angry? Maybe. But anyone can be or get angry - atheists or not. Why is it that atheism attract so much attention?
This only fact proves that there is something in it that should be respected too. (By the way - I'm not an atheist, but yea, I was one a while ago.)

It's quite possible that these people aren't really
P.O.'d at all. It's very easy to read anger into
another persons written word if their view conflicts
with yours.
Freedom of religion means any religion (or for that matter
no religion) if that's what people want or believe.
As for myself, I believe there is a God. I believe there is
only one God whether referred to as Jehovah, Allah, Buddha
or Darth Vader. Why must we fight about it?
I do not believe that religion, as such, is necessary at all.

It seems the Christians are more angry at me not believing in a god, than I am about them trying to impose their beliefs on others.
Atheists never brought you 9/11, the Crusades, Witch Burnings, the Inquisition, or the modern Witch hunt by Christians in Nigeria in Africa.

Christians keep doing what you have just done make an accusation or derogatory statement and then try and say it is those that respond that are wrong!!!!! Very, very unchristian!!!!

Why are theists so inclined to use stereotypical blanket statements?
Besides, you try being forced to follow the laws of a deity you don't believe in and see how you like it. After all, my currency certainly doesn't say "In Reason We Trust..."

Well it depends on the question. If you ask the same questions everyday it gets annoying...Like Why are Atheist's in the spirituality section...or Atheist's whats the harm in believing...stuff like that. We would like to see some originality.
