I'm not apart of any religion. I just wanted to ask a question.

Shouldn't your question be:

"Atheists, do you ever have doubts about your lack of faith?"

And an atheist would answer "Never", for an atheist seek truth and faith is believing in the absence of proof or rational explanation.

As for doubting the lack of belief, this happens to everyone atheist or not.

Occasionally. I mean, come on, eternity in Hell, that would suck.

But I've done a lot of thinking on this, and had a lot of input. My family are Roman Catholics and my best friend is a Hindu, and I take a World Religions class at school. I am fairly confident in my atheistic beliefs.

Besides, converting to a religion because you're terrified of God's wrath isn't exactly a very good idea...Religion should be something to love and embrace.

If there is a God, and he is all-knowing, then he must know that I am a very good, moral person and wouldn't punish me just for being an atheist.

Atheists don't have a lack of beliefs.

Perhaps you are thinking about us Agnostics? Bit even we are not without beliefs -- just without beliefs about God.

I have a very strong belief system -- it just doesn't use the existence of God as an assumption. I've probably studied more about religion than you have (I went to 16 years of Christian schools). But I have also studied philosophy on the graduate level.

I can guarantee that my belief system is more carefully thought out than yours is.

Atheism is the awareness of a lack of faith in the blind indoctrination of religious law, it is not a 'lack of belief'.

To be an atheist is not to walk the earth with a sense of meaninglessness - it is simply a belief that one needs quantifiable data to conciously accept a deity in a tangible, logical and deductive way.

Of course. I am a scientist, and the most important thing that any scientist does is to re-examine beliefs about anything and everything, so that if new evidence appears which refutes an existing belief, the belief can be suitably corrected. That is one reason that I participate in this forum: to see if someone can come up with something interesting along these lines. I am still waiting.

Not really. I have to admit that it's very difficult going against what you were being taught in school and brought up to believe. When I used to have doubts, I considered myself agnostic. After I stopped doubting, I considered myself an atheist. I'm convinced that a lot of people in this world believe in God out of fear. They think that if they don't believe in God, they'll be punished after they die. People just have to be strong and open up their minds.

I question the basis of my lack of belief fairly frequently, because I think it's important to challenge my own assumptions. But I've never come to a different conclusion.

Of course you have doubts like everyone does on many important issues, but i had more doubts when I was a christian. I figure I can't ever just make myself believe in something if i truely don't, god would see right through me obviously, so why pretend?

No, I comprehend that aims are a mechanism of my recommendations to deal with rather some bits of counsel. i've got had some rather genuine aims the place I "have self belief" they got here approximately for a short quantity of time whilst waking up - sorta' like "Huh? Why am I no longer in the trail of ny?..... oh, it became right into a dream."

More simple ignorance!!!
Atheist - does not believe in a god - any god not just yours.

They can therefore follow any religion, faith or belief system that does not have a god.

Christians post this sort of question showing their lack of faith!!!!
