Most specifically, that involve being on boats. I'm not really looking for something that's science related, more like cargo, or shipping or something. Hell, anything'll do....but I'd prefer the latter. Thanks in advance. Oh, and please don't say pirate. I'm looking for something modern. Thanks. ^_^

There are modern pirates but it is illegal.
I work in a shipyard and we get many ships in there are fishing, NOAA, Navy, ferries, and processors. Crabbing is on dangerous but plenty of jobs. Merchant Seaman jobs are harder to get these days and of course captain jobs are hard to get. Deck hands and fishing vessel jobs are the easiest to get but hard work, cold and dirty. Becoming the captain of Yacht is easier than being a ship's captain, deck hand on yachts are less common but you could maybe be a chef. Cruise ships have dozens of jobs from bar tender to ships doctor. You could clean cabins but most of those jobs are pretty low paid but good tips.

Well, I'm not sure about shipping... All I can give you is this tip: If you MUST be the captain of a boat that is said to be indestructible, do not direct it towards any possible contact with ice bergs. But, you could be a marine biologist if you're okay with going underneath the surface... I used to want to be one... I used to want to be a teacher too... But now I'm focusing on being the queen of Australia (If they don't have a queen, then I'll be the first), being an avocado juggler, being a pretzel folder, and being a walrus trainer.
