Sorry, but the nativity story was tacked on propaganda to establish the human birth of Jesus as opposed to the Gnostic version of the story where Jesus came to Earth in a full grown spiritual form. It also contains impossible incongruous elements pertaining to so called prophecies from parts of the OT which many people wanted proved had been fulfilled so that Jesus would be seen as the "one" messiah they'd all been waiting for, such as a little side trip to and from Egypt. There are no historical elements to the story, though several points were borrowed from other mythological stories.

Who knows? God may have created written language when he gave them verbal language. God may have only given them the ability for verbal language and humans developed written language later. There is not a person on this planet with the capability to look back in time and see the minute details of how everything played out. The way that we know what we do know about what happened is that God revealed the beginnings of the universe to Moses many, many years later. There did not have to be a limited human witness to relate the beginnings of mankind when there is a limitless infinite creator to reveal it to us.
