Yes it is possible to become a police officer with a minor offence against your name. All traffic matters are considered to be minor offences (American spelling Offenses).

depends what you mean by minor, was it a misdeamenor??? traffic??? anyway, you can hire an attorney have the courts expunge your criminal records if it qualifies for "minor" convictions. It may be a short or lengthy process depending on state ordinances and court back logs, but if it can be expunged you are set.
