Hence the term miracle.
Edit: The virgin birth is a direct act of God, meaning it is a miracle. No I'm not claiming that conception without penetration is impossible, but because this is a religious story you must understand that sometimes applying science doesn't always work. In the end, you must decide "do I believe in God". If no, then the idea of a miracle doesn't make sense, if yes then the idea of a miracle is believable. No need to apply science only logic, and philosophical thinking. Is there a God, or is there not a God, that is essentially what your question comes down to.

I think that God used some sort of energy, think the force from star wars or something, to cause the egg to fertilize and begin to do what egg cells do.
No, I don't believe God has sperm nor do I believe he has a use for it.
I don't believe he was a clone of Mary no, but another sort of human that human science may not yet understand.

It is impossible to 'understand' it in a scientific way, because it makes no sense at all , scientifically speaking. Religion is a matter of faith not science and the story of divine conception and the virgin birth has, of course, no scientific basis or validity whatsover. You either believe it or you don't and it is a waste of time to try to rationalise it.

Ok, it takes a sperm and an egg to make a fetus- However that is not only scientifically correct- God made it that way, however God also created the first man and woman without sperm. With science a virgin birth is not possible, but with God all things are possible. No clone, sorry- Jesus was and always will be God, and always will be perfect- Mary was an imperfect, but humble servant of God. Sorry- your argument does not hold water. Nice try though.

Oh sure god can do everything and never show himself nor does anything. Why doesn't he come down here once and remove hunger and poverty from the world. Oh, I know someone is going to tell me that god should not be provoked, but who is provoking him, I am asking a question and that is not provoking anything nor anyone. Further, as the story goes in the NT, if Jesus was real he would have to be neither male nor female. This ought to answer your question, and there never was any such lie as a virgin birth, and that was used many, many years and many times prior to the NT story being written.

Man was made in the image of God, therefore, God is a being of flesh and bone. Being omnipotent, He knows all about DNA and the entire scientific process involved in the conception of a human being. All that was needed for Mary to conceive is the introduction of viable genetic material from a male source, and so the Lord put a small piece of his own physical genetic structure within her at the correct moment for her to become pregnant.
And Mary was not yet married to Joseph when this happened, they were espoused (or engaged), but not yet married. She was a virgin and according to traditional marriage-age at that time, most likely only 14 or 15 years old.

well, there is much more to our existance then just the "scientific" aspect. If you think about it....there must be much more than a mere sperm and egg needed to create life - because once the sperm and egg unite something more than what can be proven by a scientific principle happens and that involves faith. Who breathes the breath of life into our lungs, how does the soul enter our body, what gives you a conscience and intelligence - I think these questions take more than science to answer. So if these obvious aspects of everyday "life" exist, than isn't it possible that the birth of Jesus by immaculate conception is a possibility as well?

It's no different then the evolutionists that think you get something from nothing except the Biblical Worldview considers the possibilities of supernatural occurrences and other dimensions influencing ours.
The importance of the virgin birth is that the sin of Adam is not imputed to Jesus though he became sinful flesh he was not a sinner hence the worthiness to be called the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.

Virgin births were very common in the ancient god community and this is just another example.
Gods were also fond of sexual intercourse with females by taking the form of an animal e.g.a bull and Europa or Leda and the swan.
It's all fantasy, not supposed to be taken seriously although a lot of gullible people do.

The premise of Christianity is faith and belief. If you actually think about that is said in the Bible, you cannot be a Christian because so much of it makes no sense. When you question a devout Christian about the disparities, they just tell you that the people who wrote the words were inspired by God. And, anybody who reads a version of the Bible that has been rewritten is also believing that the writer's point of view does not apply to the Bible. Interesting, Huh?

Pretending God is real then does God need a sperm and egg in order to produce itself looking like a man???
If God need a sperm to produce Jesus then God must have DNA in it but a God is a spirit not bound by flesh.
So, my guess is Jesus was God transformed in an illusion that he was a baby born in Mary's womb.
Jesus itself was an illusion since God cannot have flesh since God is God and cannot die.
