Join the military -- the Marines or Army, for instance. The Special Forces would be a good choice, as would Navy SEALs. (The U.S. Marines are a part of the U.S Navy - whether they like it or not.) Get a lot of highly specialized combat/marksmanship training. Get noticed for your "work" by the CIA or other "Black Ops" group.
It should take only about ten or twenty years -- less if there are enough wars to fight, and you actually survive those wars.

start hanging out with a gang. once trust has been established offer to do a hit pro bono. if you dont get caught you will earn street cred. offers will start to come in and if you quote a reasonable price, word of mouth will bring in clientele

you have to have ties to some sort of organized crime which is very hard to get into if you arent born into a family that is already in it
