I think that you should check out one of these exclusive PS3 games. The multiplatform games that are out now such as Assassin's Creed really aren't worth the full price, wait to buy multiplatform games when the price drops a little (except for GTA 4). PS3 exclusives look better graphically than multiplatform PS3 games also.
If you like shooters, I recommend Resistance Fall of Man. Call of Duty 4 is too short. The online gamplay in Call of Duty 4 is the only thing good for it.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Then, next year, you can get Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, Killzone 2, or whatever.
