Okay, I think I have ADHD because I can never focus, and I always have a million thoughts in my head. It kinda feels liek a huge weight and I always seem to have a headache. I also can never stand still and answer questions before they're done being asked. I also can never focus on things that don't interest me. It usually doesn't bother me, but I am in gifted in school, and I think not being able to pay attention is hurting my grades.
I think I have OCD because I used to count my steps and have to do everything in sets of four, I quickly over came that, but now a few years later, I have recently become EXTREMELY and unhealthily paranoid. I am always afraid of being watched or followed or kidnapped and have had countless nights without sleep because I'm afraid of burgulars. I also am very paranoid about germs. I don't share drinks and I am afraid to touch things. But I'm not sure if I have it because I am avery messy person, and and are OCD people really tidy?
THANKS!!!

Hmm...I've checked out depression, and I do have a LOT of the syptoms, but I don't really want to tell my mom I think I have it. OCD and ADHD are easier to talk about.
And I have had the symptoms since childhood.

Don't self-diagnosed. You're putting ideas in your head. If your in your early teens this is just a stage. If your over 16 yrs old talk to a doctor.

First off, I HIGHLY doubt that you have depression. You sound like a good person who's generally happy and apperantly with good grades.
Now I know many people ((including me)) that have ADHD. It really isn't that big a deal, to be honest. And I'd sudjust unless that you just CANNOT focus at all, don't take medications for it. It's pretty easy to cope with without medications.
However, it does sound like you have ADHD. I can't say for sure, I'm far from a doctor - - just a patient. Also, being gifted or having a high IQ usually comes with ADHD, kinda like creativity or great problem solving skills with people that have Autism (sp?)
As for OCD, it's very very common. The paranoia, however, could be related to something tottaly differnet. The germ thing may just be a fear. Germaphobic ((not too sure if thats a real word)) isn't too uncommon, either. A phobia of germs is as common as heights, blood, and the dark.
And yes, a lot of OCD people I know are total neat freaks.
How this helped. =] Contact if you have any questions.

It sounds like you have many symptoms of ADHD and some of OCD too. I have OCD so I can relate to the counting steps in sets of four compulsion. If I were you I would try to see a doctor or psychiatrist, or even a school counselor or adult you trust. And definitely tell your parents if you haven't already. If the signs are strong enough, your parents and teachers probably already suspect something.
By the way, OCD people are not always neat freaks. I don't obsess over organization and order either. That's just one of the many obsessions some people have. Some people wash their hands over and over because they're afraid of germs. Some people obsess over the fear that their loved ones might die. My advice is if you think you have it, read about it or look it up online. It will help you learn more about it and understand it, which can hopefully lead to your recovery.

You don't have to be super-neat to have OCD.
ADHD has to have been present since childhood. not sure how old you are now, but it would mean that you'd always had the symptoms. Depression and anxiety (of which OCD is one manifestation) can also cause problems with concentration.
There are online quizzes you can take to help determine whether you have either of these conditions, but your best bet is to talk to a therapist about it. But you probably already knew that :-)

OCD, Bipolar/ Bipolar Depression, ADD are all in the same part of the DSM IV which is the diagnosing tool for mental illness. Mood swings are NOT an indication of bipolar. To be bipolar you should have sustained MANIA periods which you lose control, have racing thoughts that seem faster than you can talk and are completely reckless and careless. You apparently are very hung up on finding meaning in your behavior that may not be yours to own. While you seem obsessed to that point, it would help to see a counselor and hear it from them. This may calm your frantic thoughts. You should have control over your behavior enough to where you are not "punching walls". Or you may be a psychopath: Characteristics of a Psychopath You fit a lot of these: superficial charm self-centered & self-important need for stimulation & prone to boredom deceptive behavior & lying conning & manipulative little remorse or guilt shallow emotional response callous with a lack of empathy living off others or predatory attitude poor self-control promiscuous sexual behavior early behavioral problems lack of realistic long term goals impulsive lifestyle irresponsible behavior blaming others for their actions short term relationships

Hello-
You seem very self aware, which is great. I say this because it can take even the brightest, and most experienced doctors a very long time to diagnose mental illnesses/problems
if they are forced to ask question after question over a very long period of time. You seem like you will be able to pretty much fill in the blanks before he/she has time to get to the questions.
My point is this: as gifted as you are, don't waste your time playing with all of the variables in an attempt to diagnose yourself. See a psychiatrist. Get some real answers and treatment if necessary. You owe it to yourself. This is your life-the "real deal". It's not a dress rehearsal.
Good luck, and God bless.

i have both of those! you should see a psyciatrist because you can get meds for it that REALLY help. for adhd i have the same symptoms as you. like EXACTLY the same lol. and for ocd i count how many drinks i take at a water fountain i always have to do it. and after i go to the bathroom if i was sitting down before i went to the bathroom i have to get back to where i was before the toilet water stops running. and i am an extremeley messy person! like very very very messy and i still have ocd. so yah ask your parents to take you to a psyciatrist.
i have med that i take for my adhd and then help my grades soooo so much. on days that i forget to take my pills i do horrible in school. deffinatly try to get some medication for it cause it makes the world of a difference!

i was diagnosed with adhd and am on the spectrum of autism. it sounds to me that theres a slight possibilty that u are. i can never focus on something i do not like (i.e maths) i use to purposly get myself kicked out of the lesson, if not that then i would become extremely figity.
it sounds to me that maybe u do have OCD and i also kind of understand what u mean. i have certain things i have to do, like i HAVE to tie my hair up when i sleep, i have night knickers and day knickers, i HAVE to brush my teeth before i go to bed and when i wake up, if i dont do any of this i cannot sleep and get extremely paranoid and angry. i also have to take of the first two pieces of toilet roll off before i use it. i cannot leave my house with out a shower. and i use to do something thats weird, which is i use to say to myself oh god if i dont catch this ball something bad will happen. but i have never been diagnosed with ocd. but i am also quite a messy person.
the best thing to do is see someone professionally to find out.
good luck, oh and also its nothng to be ashamed of!

First of all, most people that have OCD don't think they have it. They are told that they have it. I do little rituals too. Like when I see a word, I count how many straight lines are in the word. As far as both go, ask your doctor.
