Hell yeah you should have shot him, thats bigger than the first buck I killed with the bow. You shouldnt worry about what other people think everyone has a different idea of ther ideal trophy is anyhow. My little girl will start hunting next fall with a gun, we live in good deer country and if she saw a buck like that and wanted it to be the first one she shot id let her take him. Good Job

Thats an awesome buck. The perfect size. Hes not like Bambi or anything but hes not some big monstrous smelly thing with strong tasting meat. I think they call them trophy bucks because thats all there really good for. There usually smelly and tough. That is a fine buck you got. I have shot smaller bucks than that before.
By the way bow hunting is awesome my dad bought me a bow a couple years ago. Do you also hunt with a rifle? or just a bow.

Congratulations! My first, several decades ago, was similar. I don't shoot the youngsters any more, but it's a fine first buck, and if you're in an area where hunting pressure is great, you may not have the opportunity for the old guys that I'm lucky enough to be able to hunt. I know you're proud of him as well you should be.

Congrats! Nice first buck and the fact that you took him with a bow makes it that much more satisfying.
After many years of bow hunting I most likely would have waited for a larger buck, depends on how late in the season it is. When I started out bow hunting I would have been very happy with a buck like that my first go round.

Very nice buck. It is quite an accomplishment to take a deer by bow. Enjoy the memory. My first bow deer was a 5 point, with a scraggly little rack. I'm still prouder of that hunt than the two monsters I have mounted.

even without looking at the pic, i would say, if the deer was of legal size & sex for the hunt & wasn't sporting some major injury, that you did good.
These days, too much concern is put on the RACK, rather than on the MEAT.
If you are happy with your kill, it makes no difference what anyone else thinks.
I think that killing an animal for food is good, if it is something that you can use as a trophy, is just a plus.

If I were hunting for a trophy, I'd have let that one slide on past. But if I were meat hunting, as I generally do, he'd have been on his way to my freezer in a red hot New York second!
Good job Lil Miss Hunter!
Good Hunting, and Merry Christmas!!

That's a fine Buck and quite an accomplishment for you as a Bowhunter. Anybody that says different is just jealous or a snob. My first Bowhunting Buck was a spike (Smaller...) and that was a lifetime ago. You NEVER forget your first, no matter how many more you get in your life...Congratulations!
