Not really. The insurance is way higher than the 6cyl model. And, if you aren't careful, you will wreck it in wet weather. They have too much horsepower/weight ratio to be stable car for a beginning driver. Just my opinion, but unless you are an experienced driver, leave the gt alone.

Mustangs all the way. If its a GT it already has a great deal of horsepower without modifications. It beats any piece of crap import. The first thing you should do is put a flowmaster exhaust system with headers to make it sound loud and mean. A cold air intake will increase air flow to the engine. Thes things add between 30-50 hp. GET THE STANG!!!!!!!
oh ya, but if your big on gas mileage, this might not be your car since its fuel economy isnt great......other than that, its fun to drive really fast

I say NO.........My opinion.
Depending on how you were raised.
No. Your first car should be a piece of ****.
Your second car should be something you worked your *** off to buy so you don't have to drive your P.O.S anymore.
First, I wanted a sports car when i got my license at 15, but at that time, also being male, the car insurance would have been over $250 a month. For a $5,000 car. Thats almost triple the payment. So I couldn't afford it. Even if my parents could've paid it for me, they wouldn't. So you buy what you can afford to drive.
If you are spoiled rotten and have parents that have more dollars then sense. Then sure, run out a buy the fanciest and fastest car you can get your hands on. Hell it's not like you have to pay the insurance or the note on it. And remember those burn outs you do, **** you won't have to buy tires or a new transmission for it.
But if it was me. I would get a Nissan 350Z. 10x faster and better handling AND Cheaper then a Mustang. And I am a Ford fan. (don't tell my Subaru or my VW)

My first car was a 1969 mustang GT convertable. As long as you don't speed you should be fine. I have had Mustangs all my life since then. My latest is a 2006 GT, and I don't think I would drive any other car. I have never had any problems with any of them as long as you stick with the maintence plans they are great cars.

Umm well for me i bought mine at 18 but i have driven fast cars since i have been 15. If its ok with your parents that why not? Mustangs are reliable cars so you wont have problems. The only problem i could see would be insurance cost and gasoline cost other than that Go for it.
PS. Please drive responsibly its only 260hp but in the wrong hands it can be very lethal to someone who doesn't know how to drive well.

Yes, It will make an awesome first car. However if your going to be paying for your own insurance it may be very costly. Young people and mustangs = high insurance

No, not for a 16 year old. If you have to have a Mustang, start with a V6.

The type of car/truck you chose is not the point here. The point is that you will be responsible. Obey all traffic laws and always use your seat belt. Don't drink and drive, or use drugs, or let your passenger drink or do drugs in your auto.
