Hmm...I'm not sure which art is the best for you, since we have no idea what styles are nearby you--a list of different styles in areas nearby you (and areas you're willing to travel to) would help.
I'd say the best TYPE of art would be one that combines grappling with striking. Something like Hapkido, if it's near enough to you.
As for gaining strength, martial arts'll help somewhat, but also weightlifting will help--and don't worry about getting too much muscle from that...unless you're a pro bodybuilder, you're not gonna look like She-Hulk.....maybe more like Wonder Woman(tall, only slightly muscular with toned muscles. ). lol

u should mail me and gimme some more info. there are many martial arts out there. also give me the area u live in because there are many mcdojos out there in the rural areas. the martial art area i have been going to has benefited me a lot. i lost 40 lbs in 3 months and currently going down.
btw i am a freshman in highschool and very dedicated to martial arts. I train everyday for 2-3 hours.
from what u have listed, i have gained. ive can stand on one leg for minutes, do the splits, have stronger endurance at PE, finally been able to do push ups, and lost my 40 lbs.
heres the other info i need u to answer:
-how much time do u have everyday?
-how dedicated will u be?
-where do u live around?
-have u seen any martial art places in ur area?
if u want to lose a lot of weight, tell me write pput a list of what u ate for the past 3 days and give them to me. I will analyze them and tell u what u need to stop eating and what u should start eating.
Btw, since ur tall, i recommend a martial art with long strikes and long stances (not wing chun kung fu).
If you are not interested in forms do not take asian martial arts. I myself take kung fu mixed with muy thai. the kung fu adds the forms for my excersise while it also teaches me the joint locks, take downs, eye gouges... stance training... the boxing is for my cardio and real life fighting.

With your joints not being a strong point with you it's best to avoid Arts that stress the joints, like Jit Jitsu.
It's hard to believe that someone would suggest that.
after reading the "first" sentence of your question.
Time to tell you that there are plenty of people here will always suggest "Their" art instead of considering what your needs are.
See what is there local to you, watch some classes and ask questions.
A good Kenpo/Kempo school may fit the bill, see what schools are in your area.

Since you are a women the best martial art is something like jiu jitsu not a striking martial art since an attacker most likely a man is not going to try and fight you but violate you and jiu jitsu or a martial art like it trains you for those situations also try hap kido or akido.

Look into Kenpo but if you find a good school I think any martial arts will work for you.

Krav maga- it's intuitive, effective, and focused entirely on 'real world' scenarios rather than sport fights.
