Just ordinary Joes will give the only life they have to save strangers. I'm talking one or two strangers.

Not to say that dying a horrible death would be fun. It would be awful. But...how many humans already make much greater sacrifices than this?

My question is, would you? I'd certainly die for my children and many others that I love. Why is it a big deal that a god would? And what is 3 days of death to an immortal being?

Thanks for your answers :)

As someone once said, "Jesus had a really bad weekend for our sins."

Death is overrated, and eventually we will all experience the event. Untill then, enjoy the life you have, it will most likely be too short when ever it ends, and nobody gets out alive. If there is anything after death, we will know soon enough.

It is hard enough to live for the people you love, death will take care of itself so I don't give it much though, I am more concerned with living a good and moral life. Death will eventually occur in any event.

I'd like to think I would.

As far as it being a "big deal"...if he knew it would just be a "bad weekend", then it wouldn't be such a big deal. But I'm not sure he knew he would be resurrected.

I think that Jesus said it best:"Greater love has no man than this...that he would lay his life down for his friends"....

....yet God willingly chose to lay down his immortality,to suffer horribly and die for those who hated Him...

Many, including myself would lay down their life for a family member. How many of us would be willing to die for an enemy?

Some american POWs were tortured for 5 years for their country.

Slaves of African decent were tortured for their whole lives - I'd bet my life that a great many slaves in the US were tortured worse, far worse than Jesus.

Certainly, if I had some reason to think it would actually work.

You revel in your martyr complex as if suffering is some kind of fashion statement. Who are you trying to impress and why are you using Jesus to inflate your ego?

I wonder if you would die for the rapist pedophile who rapes and kills your child.

I didn't think so.
