Worst mistake: Thinking that your child is your property, and not an individual in their own right.

Best thing: "There are two things we should give our children: One is roots (love, stable home and family, education) and the other is wings (the ability to let children make their own mistakes, and to know when to let them go.)"

The best, talk and try to understand what your child is telling you, rather than just judging it.

Worst, telling your child that they should be grateful, because you could have had them sucked into a sink. (My lovely mother has told me this. Wonderful huh. She's a Dr. Laura fan, and that is a little phrase she is fond of. )

the worst.

lie to your child.
abuse your child.
leave your child.
be your childs friend.
put yourself first before your child.
put down your child, always focusing on the bad
let just anyone babysit them , pawn them off on anyone.

the best.

love unconditionally.
talk (communicate)
tell the truth to your child
put your child first.
always be there for your child.
spend time with your child.
praise your child , focus on the good things your kid does, encourage them
hug your kid
tell them you love them daily
censor what they watch and video games they play
know where your child is at all times, know who is around your child.

The worst is giving them everything they want and spoiling them. You are not doing them any favors when you do that.

The best is to love them, communicate with them, let them know that you're there for them.

emotional and mental abuse are the two worst things i can think of, and they can take many forms.

i think the best things a parent can do are be consistent, encouraging and supportive.
