Ever since I was little, I have always been uncomfortable in church. I haven't been to church in a rally long time due to this reason. However, I know that I need to be there. Today, I got up and just went and I did last week as well. Praying with others is just weird to me. Why do I feel this way?

The only reason that I am uncomfortable is that I am not sure whether I should clap and sing in a new church. I want to a black United Methodist church and really liked the music and it moved me. I just couldn't get into the large body movements of much of that congregation. The mega church rocked also but the congregation was a bit more subdued and predominantly white and probably had less rhythm DNA. The Lutherans were more traditional but I was able to blend. I am not sure whether to kneel or genuflect at Catholic church but I can go with the flow of the natives in any culture if they don't mind. The easiest to blend with are the Unitarians; it was really weird that they spotted me for one of their own long before I did. I really only went to the Unitarian church to participate in their Habitat for Humanity build.

I do not feel uncomfortable at my church because my church just feels like a second home to me. We actually meet in my preacher's house in his living room. I love it. Its a no pressure environment. No one has to "act" good just because you are at church. To me, my church seems like it is closer to Biblical churches (meeting in homes and singing, praising, discussing, reading, and asking questions about the Word of God).

You may feel that way simply because you haven't found the "right" church for you yet. Its good to go out and visit some churches to see which one best suits you. In addition, you might just feel uncomfortable praying with/in front of people in general. I am. When I pray, I want to be alone. I do not like to lead prayers and I feel more sincere when I am by myself. It feels like I can truly open up to God when I am alone.

So in short, you have to find the church where you feel most comfortable. And as for praying with people, the uncomfortableness will go away with time.

If all it is that bothers you is the praying with others that is totally understandable. I used to be the same way. When I really studied God's word I gained a much closer relationship with him. I then realized my prayer time is something I need to do alone. I bow my head if in a church but I do my real God talk when I am in personal worship and study.
Everyone is different and that is why we need personal relationships with God. Make your own and it will work for you.

I used to.
I've just recently become much closer with God, and learned alot. It's really hard to explain, but He is just so much more real to me now, now that I fully understand.

Some people are just more comfortable praying alone. Once you become more comfortable in church, praying with others might come easier. You can pray whenever you like, so don't feel like you need someone else in order to pray. You can talk to God anytime=]

My church is amazing. It's like another home for me.

Yeah I've been to church 3 or 4 times in my youth, weird I agree, the bowed heads, the cheesy smiles, the way they talk, and the funny enthusiasm they have in their jesus stories. I felt much more comfortable eating mushrooms outside on the side of a mountain.

It is probably because you have never surrendered your life to the Lord. And because of that you still have that sin nature inside of you. I felt the same was before I was saved.
I also felt uncomfortable around visiting at the hospital and the funeral homes for the same reason.

I used to be when I was a protestant, Iam no longer uncomfortable in Jesus Christ's true Church, the Catholic Church. I love going to be in the present of the Lord that I go to Mass several times a week, just to stand in His glory.

No i'm the same way but it's mainly because i'm afraid of showing other people my emotions and my vulnerable side. Don't worry you just need to find the right church. :)
