Are your friends the same age as you, approximately? Is their "guidance" somehow threatening your sense of being an adult? If so, as a mental health professional with 20+ years experience, now retired, I have a "sure-fire" remedy for you. It's all in the old addage, "Rise above it". Your sense of having the ability to take care of yourself, which is part of the maturing process, is being challenged. If you REact to it, you're proving their point. If you stay one step ahead of them, by maintaining your sense of maturity and well being, you will then, slowly but surely, prove to them that their concern is ill-founded, and will eventually "cease and desist". If any of their "concerns" don't "cease and desist", then you can look upon them as the immature person, and act accordingly. God Bless you.

if this happens all the time, it would seem that your friends feel you do not pay enough attention to what's around you. In a parking lot, it could be a person as well as a car that is dangerous.
you could get them to be quiet by showing that you are paying attention ... even exaggerate it by making a show of looking around, etc.
if you think you're fine and pay enough attention to your surroundings ask yourself this: would you rather have your friends warn you and become slightly annoyed, or would you rather they say nothing, and you actually get hurt?

My guess is that you are the more talkative person who is busy chatting while your "follower" type friends are walking with you to the mall through the parking lot. They are likely to be cut from a different cloth with more anxiety so they admire you and you appreciate their devoted style..but in the lot they can't help but be nervous and so just try to ignore them or put your arm through theirs and lean in so they can feel like they are helping you when you appear inattentive to them. OR you can just hyper focus a few times and they should catch on.

Start doing it to them too. If you are aware of your surroundings, not talking on cell phones or wearing dark clothing at night you will be fine. We lose a few pedestrians a year mostly because they can't be seen and aren't being careful.

Clearly, they are just concerned & IF they know its a touchy subject to you ~ they are now probably milking it for all its worth.... just to get a rise out of you.
Anyways, I think you do need to chill a bit, because life get's much harder than this & these type of things are just learning experiences on how you will handle future problems that come your way....

god friends that care about you suck eh?
lol
and you have more than one doing it? omg.
what are you doing that's making them worry so much?
best way to handle it is with humor, and sounds like you got that one down pat--"am i walking into them?" lol
keep it up, they'll lighten up. if not, you'll have to trade them in for friends that will let you walk into a car,..and laugh
happy holidays!

They just want you to know they care for you. Don't be so thin- skinned. I have a lot of trouble with that too.

It's nice that they care but tell them that your watching out and they don't need to worry about it.

man, i hate that, too. it's like, "damn, mind your own business. i've never been hit by a car and maybe you should watch our yourself instead of paying attention to me!!!" maybe if you laugh it off, they'll stop bother you about it. my mom does that all the time. i'm 20 years old and i haven't gotten hit yet. don't plan on it happening anytime soon. anyway, just try to play it off like it doesn't matter; cuz if you make a big deal out of it, they'll just feel offended. good luck
