for those of yu who are asking what yule is, yule is a wiccan or pagan holiday, for the mother goddess who gave birth to the sun god on yule day. we light candles in her honor to light her way and the new born baby suns way, and to represent the sun and moon with the light of candles also, hey if i left anything out, feel free to add

I celebrate Yule because I'm pagan, and on Christmas I get together with my family to eat dinner and exchange gifts.

Believe in? such a weird phrase but we use it so much.

We all know both exist, so if i didn't "believe in" them I'd be pretty ignorant. I know they both exist.

If you mean which do I follow/recognize/celebrate ...

You can do both. Actually Christmas is just a ripoff of the Yule-tide festival.
So when you celebrate Christmas, which most of us do because it's a cultural thing, not a religious thing like the zealots would have you believe, you're also celebrating a few Yule traditions as well.

Do you know where to get a good Yule log? I can't find one. I want a birch one and there's no birch trees this far south.

Christmas is a blending of the commemoration of the birth of Christ and the Yule celebrations. In fact a Christmas tree is a Yule tradition.

I actually believe in Yule and/or Winter Solstice, when you come right down to it, because my spiritual beliefs are new age, with a bit of pagan thrown in for good measure. But, I call it Christmas out of habit, and because it is easier when dealing with most people to just call it what they do, instead of having to deal with the weird looks. But, I don't believe the standard Christmas story at all, and while I usually just keep my opinions about this to myself, unless talking to someone of like mind, or at least open mind...I prefer the secular side of Christmas, and just ignore the religious side. *sm*

I'm Christian, so I celebrate Christmas...

However, on the minor Sabbat of Yule, I light candles and wish my Wiccan friends the best in the New year. its my way of showing my appreciation for them and their religion.

That full moon is awesome tonight, isn't it?

Yule...And did you see that full moon! Awesome...truly awesome.

EDIT: Cherona, wiki or google it for a full explanation. For the short version, it's Christmas before the Christians stole it.

" Believe in"? They both exist, the yule being far older.........
but it is Christ that I put my faith in, therefore, I am acknowledging His birth and paying reverence.......

Thanks for a gracious question at a time we see so much debate and arguement.
