I am an international student who live in California. I have a boyfriend who is not an American citizen but has a green card. I know since I am an international student, I cannot get married with him until he gets an American citizenship.
However, we are going to Las Vegas on new year. I heard any people can get married there easily.
So, I am wondering if I can get married with him in Vegas and apply a green card after we back to California.
If anybody knows about my question, please help me.
And, thank you for reading my poor english :p

Yes, you can get married. All you need is marriage license. After you get married, your spouse can sponsor your green card process filing I-130 Petition for Alien Relative. However, unlike US Citizen Spouse who has visa availability immediately, spouse of Permanent Resident has to wait until your Priority Date, which is given upon the approval of I-130, becomes current to apply for I-485. You can check the waiting time at Department of State Visa Bulletin.
You can file I-130 after marriage and when your spouse becomes US Citizen, you can change your sponsor's status to speed your process.
In the meantime, make sure you maintain F-1 status. Good luck!

No you won't get a green card until he gets his citizenship. But still DON'T DO IT! An F1 student visa is a non-intent visa meaning you must not have any intent to remain in the U.S. permanently. If you get marry him, next time you apply for a visa or get through the airport, you have to tell them you are married to a U.S. green card holder. That is ground for denial because you have shown intent in remaining in the U.S. permanently. There is not much you can do, except to wait until he naturalizes or until you graduate and get a job and adjust your status to H1.

If you are doing it to qualify for in-state tuition, it will cost you more in the long run.

I don't know about the marriage, but you won't be able to get a green card by marrying him. He would have to be a citizen for you to get a green card. If you get married, you will probably will have to go back to your own country and wait for you b/f to gain his citizenship and apply to have you come back. There is no easy way around it.
